After reading this thread (yes all of it!) I decided to order a Holika Holika BB to try. I feared the SPF in skin79 would be too high for me - I had a horrible reaction to some very expensive Kiehls moisturiser my husband once bought me so I went for the Holika.
I'm wearing it today for the first time and I'm really pleased with it. It's thicker than I thought it would be, especially in comparison with the Garnier & Maybelline BB's I've received samples for. It looks like I'm wearing foundation so not as 'natural' as some posters have mentioned. Great colour for a pale face like me and the cost was fine so I'd definately buy again.
It won't replace my 'going out' favourites - Chanel Mat Lumiere & Lancome Teint Miracle, but I have decided not to buy the new YSL Touche Éclat foundation and stick with the Holika for daytime. Thanks for the recommendations, I would never have discovered these lovely BB's without you!0 -
A quick dusting of sheer loose powder - the collection 2000 one is translucent and only about £3 for a budget buy and does the job of removing shine. Hope this helps!
I actually wrote to Collection 2000/Constance Carroll a few years back begging them not to change their loose powder colours. There used to be an amazing shade called 9 Light Translucent which was perfect for me (when Collection 2000 came in the navy blue/silver packaging)..then they c*cked it up by bringing out orangey tinged powders (the newer Translucent is still a little orangey for me, nowhere near as good as the one I loved). Didn't get a response, eitherThe reformulated powder isn't as velvety as previously, nor does it have SPF, and it used to be a whopping 40g pot.
Even though we don't get much sun in the UK, cosmetics manufacturers, particularly the drugstore brand price range, all seem to sell powders and foundations that are too orangey/beigey/tan for my liking.
Anyway, I stumbled upon this by accident when away, and found that Superdrug stock it. NYC Smooth Skin Loose Powder in Translucent. 20g in a pot and it's brilliant! Cheap and has rave reviews on Makeupalley. http://www.superdrug.com/face/nyc-smooth-skin-loose-face-powder-translucent/invt/365688/ (OOS online at the moment, on offer at £2.49).

"(Translucent) is NW10-15, slightly pink;..very similar to the NARS loose powder in terms of texture, grade, and oil control"
This paleface is going to stockpile some!!
As for BB Creams, I'm using and liking the Pink and Gold varieties of Skin79, can't see me changing0 -
Can't remember if the Superdrug BB Cream has been mentioned, but here it is, at £8.99 (SPF15 though). They're currently doing free delivery on all standard orders till midnight.

Superdrug BB Cream 5-in-1 Day Cream Light 50ml
Active ingredients:
Vitamin C - a potent antioxidant.
Hyaluronic Acid - an exceptional moisturiser.
Caffeine - refreshes the complexion"
Edit: Actually, scrap that. First time I did a search of this thread nothing came up, but I found this:I bought it and sadly will be chucking it out. I thought the formula was lovely. I usually can't use any colour product on my skin because it's so dry and goes patchy. I thought this went on very nicely and felt nice on my skin. There isn't much coverage. The problem was the colour. I bought the lightest one and it looks like a bad fake tan on me. It was very orange.0 -

Just had a quick look on ebay. There's a cheapish one around £2 called "Clever Cat CC Cream" 50ml.
The description says: "Effects: super-hydrated & anti-wrinkle & whitening + anti-sun hurt + cover facial flaws." Don't you just love Chinglish.0 -

Well, my Skin79 Hot Pink Superplus has arrived and I've quickly tried it. It looks more natural than the Holika Holika one I've been using - I've checked in the mirror in bright daylight and I can now see that the Holika one shows up my pores. Oh. Considering I usually put my make-up on at 7am, I don't get really bright daylight to properly check my make-up. Oh well.
I also got samples of Missha Gold Snow Radiance Jin Essence. It's all in Korean though! Mr Google advises that it's a beauty serum to be applied before make-up. I've checked out the (totally unrecognisable) ingredients and there appears to be no snail goop in it. Well, that's a relief.
I'll be back on here to advise how the Hot Pink is!0 -
I was in Boots earlier today and they've a new BB brand, Dr Jart. 4 types of BB cream (one for aged skin, another oil free, another "premium" and another I think for dry skin- though not 100% on the final one!)
The I tried a few on the back of my hand- really lovely texture and seems to be quite pale, also blends very well, they aren't cheap though, all around £20 which sadly puts them out of my reach but if I did have the money I'd buy one. They looked very good even on the back of my hand and also offered an SPF level which many BB creams don't seem to offer.
--EDIT--
Just seen on the Boots website, the one for dry skin starts at £13! Boots have £5 offThe rest are higher in price (£16, £17, £19) but still worth a look, you get around 40-50mls per product.

Well, I'm seriously impressed with the Hot Pink Superplus! My skin looked fabulous with a real dewey finish (I don't like a matt look). It's thicker than the Holika Holika one and the pump bottle makes it easier to control the amount I'm using. The Holika one is in a tube and it's getting harder to get it out without squeezing out way too much.
Then again, I did also use the Jin Essence on clean skin with Nivea moisturiser on top then Hot Pink on top of that. So today I will forego the serum and try the BB on it's own and see how it looks.0 -
I got a few samples of the new Skin 79 orange one in the post and the colour is perfect for my skin. Can see myself buying a full size of this one once I've gone through the gold and pink one's that have just arrived.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
