I'm terrified and excited all at that same time. I've been researching honeymoon ideas and oh has been designing invites.

  • Maldives! We are very lucky to have gotten such a good deal. Ten nights, all inclusive plus! Can't wait. It feels like we haven't been on holiday in ages (it was only in June!)!

Where are you thinking for your honeymoons ladies? My only concern was which name I would be travelling under! I don't want to spend money getting a new passport, and then getting my holiday stuff changed to my new name. But, I do want to be acknowledged as Mrs G officially! Very silly I know...

Ooh lovely. We are thinking Indonesia but also flirting with the idea of doing a bit of a tour around India, with some beach time at the end.

Think I'm just going to stick with my maiden name until we get back. I'm the last in line for my name, so considering making it a second middle name and still using it at work.

My friend got her passport in her married name before they got married. The start date in the passport was their wedding date, so this allowed her to travel as Mrs Husband's name.

  • My boyfriend proposed to me on New Years Eve and we have decided to get married this September..... We have been together for 20 years, 21 in February and he decided it was time to make an honest woman out of me lol

So I am going to be entering lots of wedding comps :)

We have decided on a registry office with either a hall or the pub afterwards.....

He wil not fly so we will be going somewhere nice for a week hopefully with nice weather, if not good weather then it will still be good :)

Good luck to everyone with their wedding plans xx
xx Thank you to everybody that posts on here xx

  • Been to give notice this morning - it was weirdly nerve-wracking but I'm glad it's done as we needed to do it before booking a time with the registrar (we don't live in the area where we're getting married) and I want to get that done ASAP. Now to start making appointments with dress shops...

Mine took about 20 minutes but I think that was because I've had a change of surname before which was different to my birth surname :)

In total, I think it took about half an hour for both of us, but ours was pretty straightforward as we didn't have any complications - neither of us have been married before and we're both UK citizens.

On Friday we decided that we are going to get married this year, and pencilled in a date in May (this year).

We are keeping it small, me, him, my kids and his mother. Then to the local carvery for a meal and drinks, then we are spending the night in a hotel and the kids are going home with the MIL.

No pleasing people we don't have much to do with, no catering for people I don't like, and no arguing over anything, just a simple wedding with the people that matter, no fuss and not too expensive :)
