  • Hi all!! Need to do a fiscal fast this week, more out of necessity due to wages being late and needing to up my savings pronto!

OH has just bought our food for the week, there is half a tank of petrol in the car and I don't think I'll be going anywhere this week! OH is off to Edinburgh for 4 days so I will be home alone so it should make it easier!

  • 2 days in and going good... Think it could be due to the face that I have the flu and haven't left the house!!!

Hi craigywv, im coming back to mse after a long time away. I want to do a fast for a week, starting today. No spending at all. I am short on some fridge stuff, ie tomatoes, etc, but im just gonna muck through as my freezer, store cupboard etc are shockingly full. I will be treating 7 members of my family to a meal out on Saturday, but apart from that, im hoping not to spend anything until next Thursday. Good luck to you.
  • I'm on day 2 of my Fiscal Fast, I have to say, I end up avoiding shops, what's the point of going to them when you can't spend.

Good morning f/fasters I have been really good this month and only visited the shops once for a 'big' shop using up my Aldiiii voucher that I had been given.Sorting out my cupboards I realised I have far too much stuff stored in there as when using my voucher after getting the essentials I was spending around £15 to buy long dated tinned and extra bits just to 'save' a fiver on a £40.00 shop .so This month I have been extremely frugal and stayed away from the shop and my food purse still has over £40 in it.So I am shopping from my stores indoors first before buying anything else and on the last Thursday of the month I shan't bother using the Aldiii voucher this month as I really don't need even more stuff cluttering up the cupboards.I have four double copboards crammed with stuff plus my bulging freezer (I think it multiplies in there on its own)So at the moment on my list of essentials that I am running short of is salad bits and vanilla essence and maybe some oranges. But nothing I can't live without for a few more days. I will probably have my second shop of the month on Tuesday just to top up with fresh stuff.
I had a good delve in the cupboards and found all sorts of goodies hiding in there :):):) so its cook books out and a bit of inspiration to use up some of the stuff I have. This morning I am making some carrot and sweet potato soup for lunches next week ,I'll probably chuck some lentils in there as well as I have 2 kilos of them boxed up in lock 'n' lock boxes that I want to use up. I have a friend coming for lunch next wednesday so I shall have a rummage around in the freezer and see what I can find
Nice to see you all back again on the f/fasting route

Wow, thats amazing. I know some of my friends think I do really well with my budgeting, but in truth, all the stuff I have bought this month were Y/S or charity shop finds that I could have done without. I have a massive walk in cupboard, its a small room really (a meter cupboard), that has wall to wall shelving, full to the brim with catering size beans, etc and I really want to use before I buy. I really miss the StoreCupboard challenge, as it really helped me.
  • This is day 5 of my FF - I forgot to include Mothers Day, but managed to get round it, my daughter treated me to a card for my mum and I put in an M&S voucher I was given for xmas (2013) !! I also ran out of deodorant at the beginning, but to be honest, I cant notice any difference - I do shower twice a day mind - still makes you think, all them needless chemicals (!!!)

Hi chums just made a short list of what I NEED tomorrow and I am hoping it will only come to a few pounds as I have been soo frugal this month and am hanging on for grim death to try and eat as much out of my overfilled cupboards as I can.
I know I need some fresh fruit and a few odds and ends so fingers crossed.it will be my second shop this month:j:j

I am also making a quiche tomorrow with some diced red pepper, cheese, eggs and a couple of diced rashers of bacon. As I have my friend coming to lunch on Wednesday I have got a piece of gammon from the freezer and that will go in last thing tonight on low in my SC with a dash of cola so it will be nice and tender in the morning. The quiche, and the gammon with salad should do several lunches this week at least and if there is much of the gammon left over it will go into a pasta bake towards the end of the week. I am streeeetching things as much as possible.
Tomorrow morning I have a U3A coffee morning as well but its held in Dobbies and I have a free coffee voucher to use up:D
