  • It's day 3 of my 3 Week fiscal fast, and I am feeling weak (i.e. wanting to spend $$), but I have thought of some things to do to entertain myself. Dance around my appartment, play with my cat or read Don Quixote. Don Quixote is a really good book so far, it has a lot of humorus parts in it.
I was thinking of borrowing an idea from JACKIEO ( if it's ok with her?)about the idea of using a food purse and cash only. I think it might help me stay on budget and not over spend.
Anyway, i think I'm on day 2 or 3, I've lost track already!! So far so good, but I have been tempted to spend just out of boredom. That's DANGEROUS!!!
I guess I'll just have to play with my cat or read. Take Care all. Erica

If you know what the weakness is try and find a workaround. If keeping busy helps then do that.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

    Morning all

Can't decide if I managed a NS day yesterday or not - needed cauliflower from Ald1 Super 6 to go with our HM curry but I only had 20p in my purse, however I then did a market research survey in the street at lunchtime that paid me £5 so I used that to buy it. NS or not NS? The rest of the cash has gone into my food purse.

HM lunch again today then HOPEFULLY final driving lesson tonight as I have my test in the morning, really don't want to have to keep paying for lessons and another test!

Popping to Morrisons at lunchtime to see if I can get the 'free' Covent Garden soups, will do OH for lunch for the rest of the week.

    Have good days all x

lilian1977 Good luck with your driving test this morning. My budget is all over the place at the moment as I am just buying what I can when I get taken to the shops with DD as I can't carry anything at the moment, but I think I am doing well as I haven't had to buy much ,mainly fresh fruit and veg and milk.I've done a lot of eating from the freezer which has helped, but I did a big batch cook-up before I went into hospital so not had to buy any fresh meat at all.Fingers crossed I will be back driving in November and will be able to sort out my normal budgetting again,I'm definitely not in the red at least :):):)
Hope everyone is OK and will try to get back again in a few days .Typing takes ages as I can only use one arem at the moment :):)
    Cheers chums onwards and upwards

Good Luck Lilian with the driving test.

Boult, what a nice surprise about the bottles of wine.

    Jackie, take care.

    Erica, how are you do?

I needed to spend some money yesterday as I needed to buy a 50th birthday card for my friend. I managed to find a very pretty one for £1.75 and they had a promotion buy one get another for a £1, so I managed to get one for my nephew's forthcoming 11th birthday. Need to try and find a stamp in the house and get my friend's card posted today.

Also, I do need some more milk. I do have out of date milk powder so I may make this up instead to save some pennies.

I have not even thought about christmas yet. Money is going to be tight this year, so I think it will be something small for the adults. I may pop into town next week to see what I can find that looks pretty but is reasonable.

    Take care all.

    Morning all

Well I failed my test but I'm not too downheartened as I think I can pick up my mistakes and pass next time. After I left the test centre I found out one of my friends husbands who has terminal cancer has been rushed to hospital and has hours left, so it certainly put things into perspective for me. Heartbreaking stuff.

So now I am on a frugal mission even more to ensure that the time I can spend with my OH and DS is as worthwhile as can be. Definitely no more silly spending, we can have a wonderful time together for free, and put those pennies away for special holidays together.

    Free lunch today - hooray!

    Have good days all xx

    Good Afternoon All,

Lilian, sorry to read about your friend's husband, it does put everything into perspective.

Been working on our budget and it does not make for pretty reading. We have paid out quite a bit towards moving and now our buyer has pulled out, so need to regroup before trying again.

On day one of my fiscal fast, have very little money in my purse so no expenditure will be taking place!

Meals will be from food already in the house. Will need to buy toothpaste at some time next week, I will pop into town and visit the local pound store to see what I can find.

    Take care all.
