Hi how are you all doing fiscally fastilling? I can proudly announce drumroll please...................... I have cleared half of one of my freezers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the jitters looking in it............i am convinced i have serious food issues! Fresh fruit and veg and dairy is all i have bought in a good while. It just shows you what i have in there that we have not done without fish or a large variety of different meats. Tins and packets stuff , dont even go there im on par with you grey queen as i prep for the price hikes and am in doudle figures for all my tins. How are you all getting on xxx

  • I seem to have tins of stuff everywhere and I found a big box of those dried mixes that make sauces etc.All of them seem to be reasonably :) in dateish so they are going to be used up with stuff from the freezer.I now seem to have 5 kitchen cabinets full of tinned stuff and its now creeping out to the lobby cupboard so no more tin buying.:) I bought two HUGE 1820gm (thats about 4lbs )tins of apricots last week at 99p per tin and they are sitting on the floor in the kitchen as door stops at the moment.Soon as I get some space in the freezer they will be decanted into sizable portions.I haven't gone near a shop this week at all and intend to stay that way for as long as possible :):):)This food mountain is getting out of hand :):):)

Agree totally JackieO, so far I find food in the kitchen cupboards, unit in the living room and some non food items can now be found in the garage. I surprise myself sometimes where I find stuff, annoyed when it has gone out of date.x

I have to confess to not having fasted for a good wee while - but I think the principle of it has stuck with me - I now cannot buy a coffee or a snack out. We have had an expensive few weeks with bills and whatnot, but the savings are still intact and we're just squeezing into next week. We have visitors next weekend but after they've gone I'm going to plan a full on fast - we have a few bits we'd like to buy in preparation for our camping trip and we need to save a bit for them.

The freezer is stuffed full of home cooking so apart from fruit, veg and milk we should be ok. In all honesty there really is no room in my freezer at all now.

Quick visit to the garden centre this weekend and I managed to stick to my list, despite there being so many tempting things to buy. Not only does my freezer not have any space, neither does my garden and 'just one more tomato plant' really isn't going to help.

Erm I've been a bit naughty and not been doing my fasting for a long time. Can I come back please as I have managed to get myself in a tizz with my money and feel that I was more focused when fasting.

I have had my first no spend day today and don't plan to buy anything else until fortnightly shopping day on Friday.

I think a bit of living from the freezer and cupboards as much as possible to save on the shopping bill.

    Hi all

I;m fiscal fasting for 4 days this week as we only have £66 food money to last us three weeks - every day I don't spend it is one less day it has to stretch for!

So, yesterday I didn't spend anything and actually made £3 doing some market research on the street - got two muller yoghurts to eat as well so that meant I didn't need the yoghurt I'd brought with me. Had stew and couscous for lunch - in each portion the following costs apply: 7p for the cous cous (50g of a 500g 70p bag), 8.5p for 1/4 tin tomatoes, 6p for 1/4 tin baked beans (sauce rinsed off), 2p for 1/4 carrot, sprinkling of italian herbs, couple of free pepper sachets from a cafe, 1/4 of an onion (5p?). About 30p a portion and really filling and warming, plus includes veg, protein and carbs. Will have this for the rest of the week at work (I work 4 days). Fruit is grapes that we already had, a handful of frozen berries (foraged then frozen) with my yoghurt, plums that I got YS on Sunday. Dinner will be ratatouille from the freezer.

Planning to have really frugal lunchbreaks too so yesterday I did the market research survey and today I'm going to walk over to Boots to pick up the free mag as it has a sachet of my shampoo and conditioner in; great for holidays.

Going to peruse the vouchers board now to see if I can find anything else for free :) Good luck all xx

    Evening everyone

I have had my first NSD today for a while. It feels good and I feel a little more in control. I have been doing a menu plan today in my downtime to try and eek out the supplies as much as possible. Let this go on for a while.

    Hi all

Could do with Ald1 today as I need night time pull ups for DS and eggs - but we have two pullups left and 1 egg, so enough for tonight/tomorrow - I think I will try and hold off going until tomorrow, and perhaps even Friday - although I will HAVE to remember to go on Friday as DS not dry at night yet! Can manage without my breakfast egg on Friday.

Have posted on Freegle to see if anyone is getting rid of any pullups.

Lunch today is my stew and cous cous again, didn't have a banana for breakfast as none in the house, I had a look on the floor for pennies on the way to work and thought if I found some I could buy one, but it was not to be. I still have grapes, frozen berries and plums though so OK for fruit really.

Driving lesson tonight, £30 ugh. Test next week though so will really concentrate and hopefully this will be an expense that will no longer be coming out of my budget after that!

    Have happy days all.

    Hello everyone

Completely forgot but I'd been given an Abel and Cole free box code (no commitment, no restrictions so I got the large fruit and veg box!) and the box arrived yesterday - definitely not worth £26.50 (!!) but I got:

    5 bananas
    10 apples
    3 onions
    Head of brocolli
    Bag of cavolo nero
    2 small butternuts
    Punnet chestnut mushrooms
    Punnet plums
    Bunch of celery

All great for me and I'll use it all so it will really help to stretch the budget this week.

I also got an email from Tesco saying they are sending me a £10 moneycard due to a genuine complaint so that will help too.

Found 3p on the way to work too!

I will have to go to Ald1 today as only two pullups left and I don't want to risk forgetting to go - so that will be £2.99 out of my budget gone. Suggestions for where I can get the cheapest free range eggs?

Avid reader of this thread: I won't fiscal fast though as I'd fail in a day - I love the shops - but I love reading what you guys are making or how you are using things up :)

Love reading JackieO's posts - and I'm missing them - I hope your surgery has went well and you are healing up brilliantly - make sure and take things easy and lots of rest! x
