  • Hello Everyone, I know I have been MIA for a long time. I'm going through a lot. I found that because of my Kidney Disease I am in Stage 4 Kidney failure. It is scary to find that out at age 33.
Anyway, I am now forced to Fiscal Fast 3 weeks out of the month because our local grocery store was sold and the new owners have upped the prices really badly!!!! For two small bags of groceries it now costs me $60-80 US Dollars for one run to the store. I have complained but, no one is listening. Their reaction is "Oh well, deal with it!!" It's frustrating because I live on just over $800 a month and that isn't much.
I have knit myself some cotton towels so that I don't have to constantly buy paper towels. It is getting very difficult and it makes me sad and worried. Oh well, I'll make it all work.
Luckily I have plenty of books to read to keep myself entertained.
I hope all of you are doing well. I will fiscal fast for the rest of the month. It is basically forced, but it has made me creative.

Hi everyone been MIA for awhile.I have had my op. but slowly recovering and typing wears me out a bit so I shan't be on very long.Well lots of NSD's as I am a bit tied to the house at the moment.I have had one 'drain' out and I am hoping the other one will be taken out this morning The nurses come in daily and are lovely lasses. My dgs come to my house after school and look after me very well with lots of cups of tea:).I am slowly getting better but its taking time as this was the big op..Luckily I have lots of food in the freezer so I am working my way through it.If I need anything then one of the boys will pick it up for me ,but I'm not doing a great deal of cooking at the moment as standing wears me out as well.Lots of feet up and reading is the order of the day.Glad to see you are all climbing back on the F/fasting wagon.Sorry to hear of your problems EDC.Food prices are getting really bad everywhere.I know when I start to go to the shops again I expect I will have a few shocks (I haven't really been for almost 3 weeks)
Well thats about it chums time I went to have a cuppa and some breakfast Chin up everyone it'll soon be Christmas :):):)and yet more expence :):):)
    Cheers everyone

    :) Morning all.

Hi craigyw, me and the tins are well, nice that you're thinking of me, and I hope all is well with you and yours. That lad still eating you out of house and home?

I have been spending bits and pieces of money on most days, adding a few little bits to the preps (was re-stocking the kitchen food cupboard with tins from the rolling trollies under my bed). Go almost orbital with rage when I use up a 16p tin of red kidney beans from the 'larder' which I bought in 2012 and have to restock with the same thing from the same store at s0dding 23p.

Have some (OK, a lot) of concerns about the way the cost-of-living is going. Don't earn a lot, last year's income was equivalent to minimum wage, expect I get more than that per hour but am only well enough to work 60% of a job.

So, as well as not spending on trivia, I am shopping cagely for certain things which are sure to be used and are a good price now, such as some of the fabulous things from the 50p chazzer. There is always room for a few extra things, even in a small home.

I'm being disciplined about it, not irrationally grabbing armloads of stuff just because it's cheap, but feel a bit easier knowing some future-needs have been covered.

Will be eating out of the fridge and freezer for the next several days, apart from milk, so the grocery spend should stay low. I've budgetted for a haircut next week as need to look tidy for my office job.

Other than that, it's business as usual, I am hoovering my way through the library stock at a rate of knots, don't think I can read them faster than they can buy them, unlike my primary school classroom.

I can still recall the sense of wonder and relief I felt at primary school when I understood that you don't run out of books, there are always more of them to read.:rotfl:

Sorry for being absent but time ran away with me.

Erica, lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your health issues, and grrr to the increased grocery prices.

Fingers crossed it seems that we will be moving from our current house mid November, so I am endeavouring to use up the freezer and pantry stock. Made a start today, having curried mince.

    Take care all.
