Hello craigy,
Wow! You have been busy. Whose birthday is it tomorrow?
I had a grocery shop delivered yesterday which I still need to update my signature and the grocery challenge board. Also, treated myself to a wall clock and weather station that was in a sale!
So, from now I am officially starting my fiscal fast as I certainly don't need anything for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see how many days I can go.
How is everyone else doing?

Hello all
Going to join you on Saturday, as I need to buy some milk tomorrow and oh white bread for dgd as she's staying with me this weekend, and then I stop food shopping for as long as possible, and then the money will be used for C food shopping as I have guests staying with me.
I'm not good at menu planning, I'm more look in the fridge or freezer and make what I can sort of person always have been, so I'm not going to change that.
So I will go now as I'm at work really early tomorrow, so I will be watching Autumn watch and going straight to bed.

craigywv well done that lady I applaud all you hard work, how weird I too used a mix of tinned pineapple and peaches in a dish in the fridge this week. I used a tin of rice pud as topping instead of ice cream a third of a tin on three consecutive nights for pud.The rice pud was a tesco's value one that I found in the cupboard.I have such a large tinned stash I keep unearthing all sorts of stuff. The tinned pineapple and peaches were value ones as well (I prefer the ones in juice as I'm not keen on the ones in syrup)so a fairly cheap three nights of pudding:) I had a jacket spud for dinner tonight with some casseroled beef from the freezer as filling ,with the pudding afterwards I was quite filled up.Tomorrow I am at DDs as its Halloeen and I like to see the boys all dressed up in their costumes.I shall stay the night as we are all going up to Norwich to see DGS Ben for a suprise visit We'll be taking my 'Ben box' of groceries that I have been putting together for him and his pals as its almost mid-term at Uni and most of the youngsters are stoney broke
I filled it up with lots of staples from my overflowing food cupboards which helps both him and his pals and give me a bit of free space as well. Not been near a shop for almost a week and still have lots of stocks to eat
Hope everyone has a good weekend the forecast is sunny for tomorrow in Kent so we may have a whizz down to the coast with the dogs for a long walk along the beach
Cheers chums

Wotcher, craigyw, great work on the baking, will you adopt me?! I've been home for hours but have had my nose stuck in a thriller, plus chatting with friends on the old jellybone.
I was thinking of going onto a real fast this coming month, bare minimum of expenditures (food and archery, life's essentials). Going to buy some trousers on offer tomorrow, a planned purchase where I've been waiting for the price to come right, and it has. Other than that, I plan to sit pretty tight, eat from the freezer and cupboards and the allotment.
Got some pulled-out yarn to play with and lots of books, and plenty more where they came from (the library). I do have to travel to a funeral, which will involve bus fare, and take a bottle of vino to someone's home for a party, but you do need to put your hand in your pocket for some things from time to time.
Was portioning out some food from the batch cooking I did last night for tonight's supper and was about to have one piggy portion and decided to have two modest portions. Also found some stewed pears in the freezer last night, so had half of those tonight for pudding. Need to eat down some of the YS bargains and the h.g. veg in that tabletop freezer or I won't be able to add any more bargains..........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

As tomorrow is the Ist November I am writing down every single penny that gets spent for the whole of the month to see where the cash vanishes too.So with Saturday being day one I have an old soft covered notebook that I found in one of the drawers and I am going to mark every bit of cash spent (and why)
I normally spend with food and entertainment expences (clubs, quizzes gardener, window cleaner etc around £120 per month. This will be interesting project for me as I am sure my cash outgoings are increasing, or have been recently, yet I haven't been to the shops much at all.
Belts will be tightened and stocks scoured for meals.Christmas is a-coming and it involves lots of outlay on stuff so rather than draw from savings I am going to see what I can do to bring the cost down a bit .0 -
Great idea, Jackie0.
I've been tracking all my expenditures since the late nineties, and even after all this time, I still find myself surprised where the money goes. Such as, I may think I've spent 'a lot' on something in a given month and find that it's less than half what I spent on snacks like choccie bars.
Memory is highly selective, but a true record is a real eye-opener.
I have been intruiged by your use of a housekeeping purse, and have decided to follow suit as I want to work at a fixed budget for food this month. There will be some food spends, such as milk and eggs, and some fresh fruit and veg, but I want to use what I have as much as possible. I figure starting with a known sum in cash and working backwards will give me an instant reckoning, when I look into the purse, of how much budget is left to play with.
Today, I am deliberately going out to buy new clothes, something which rarely happens. I just cannot find second-hand trousers to fit as am very tall and a large size, and although large sized are available in the charity shops, the legs are invariably several inches too short. Tops I can get to fit with no problem, but my wardrobe is perilously low on trousers, which is causing some laundry related headaches.
With the sale, and the extra sale prices, I will be getting these particular ones, a kind I have already and like, for £9 a pair, which is very good. If they have enough of my size, I intend to get 3 pairs and then not have to shop for trousers for a few years..........gawd, I hate clothes shopping.
Other than that, just making a flask and have h.m. bread rolls and will be going from the shops up to the allotment to get cracking on the digging etc. All good clean (giggle) fun and I don't spend anything other than sweat equity once I'm up there.
Have a good day, lovely peeps. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
