Hi chums just got back from a fantastic day out with DD and family .We drove 140 miles up to Norwich to see DGS Ben at Uni.I am now a happy grandma that he is warm, safe and well fed(we took a big bag of emergency supplies gleaned from both mine and his Mum's cupbords, along with a few goodies. His younger brothers bless them all had a divvy up between themselves from their Halloween haul from last night so he has a bag of sweeties as well.He looks well ,if a bit thinner than I would like, but We had a fabulous day.I spent a total of £2.00 of a cup of tea DD bought lunch bless her and refused any contributions from me as we used my 7 seater car to get her,her OH three small boys one granny (me ) and two dogs all up to see our Ben
:):).So far this moth's outlay has been £2.00.NSD for tomorrow as I have more than enough in stock and have nothing to buy.So day one £2.00 and 29 more days to go
:):)
GQ I too hate clothes shopping and do my utmost to avoid it My youngest DD is 5'8" and has trouble finding trousers long enough in the leg I am under 5'4 and have the opposite problem Mine all seem to need shortening. She takes after her late Dad who was six foot plus.My eldest is like me short and somewhat round
I agree with craigywv hobbies are important as fun is as much a part of life and eating My fun things when I am back driving again will be my Tuesday night quiz nights which cost £2.00 and include a supper (brilliant value) and my Friday afternoon History group which cost me a fiver but I get so much enjoyment out of it I figure its my treat from myself to myself
craigywv I love the 'big book of crazy' we sound like we are kindred spiritsI am definitely going to hang on to my tanners this month and track every one of them. Its so easy to forget, and the odd chocolate bar is one of the easiest to forget
So onward and upwards chums Watch this space as the saying goes:)

It's lovely reading all your posts.
Craigy, did you enjoy your party?
Erica, how are you getting along?
Yesterday hubby and I treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast at a local garden centre, it was delicious and made a nice treat. It came from our fun money so did not feel guilty.
Today is day 1 of my fiscal fast. I am not expecting to have to buy anything apart from my nephew's birthday present but that has already been budgeted for.
I may buy any christmas present as I see them, but again this is from my gift fund.
Good Luck all.

Day 2 of fiscal fast and its going fine, made cookies and froze some of them yesterday for later in the week and today found some eating apples in the bottom of the fridge so going to make a crumble tomorrow to last a few days. Not spending tomorrow either but I will have to think about what I have in and get it all used up. I'm not good at meal planning, well I meal plan but then don't follow it cos I don't fancy it even though I like it!!!
Anyway off to take my furry visitor a quick walk, I only have her until tea tomorrow afternoon and considering I haven't met her before she's being the perfect visitor (doing a friend a favour)

3rd November and still only spent £2.00 so far, NSD today and none tomorrow hopefully.I am scouring my cupboards for stuff rather than go out shopping.Lots of stuff to eat still in stock:).Really pulling my belt tight as I can this month I have two birthdays in November and five in December all before Christmas !!!Going to be far more sensible about spending cash for the next few weeks at least ,so if I stay away from the shops then I won't spend anything .Thats the theory, now its a case of putting it into practice
:):) Onwards and upwards chums we will get there in the end .It helps that I'm not driving at the moment, so not going to the local shopping centre for a mooch.Plus I am doing a lot of relaxing to heal from my op. so I can't carry stuff as I would normally do.Good job I have a large amount of tins/frozen stuff in store. Nothing even on my shopping list either. I keep a small paper pad by the kettle and if I run short or out of something I usually put it on the pad.
Cheers fellow fiscal fasters

Well, 5th November and have broken the fiscal fast to buy milk and fruit and veg, £1.89 spent thus far this month, and have the makings of several more meals before I should have to open the purse again.
How is everyone else doing?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I had an expensive Saturday, but I have bought food for a week or so and enough ingredients for the rest of the month with what I have at home, so will eat well. Now will try and restrict my expenditure for the rest of the month to make up for my excess at the start of the month. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

day six and stuck to my guns and not been near to a shop.last night I went to DDs and we had some fireworks only a few for the boys and sparklers then had jacket spud and sausages for dinner afterwards. One jacket spud left over and DD gave it to me so that will be chucked into my remoska for dinner tonight along with a portion of beef casserole from the freezer. So only expence I have had this month was £2.00
:):):)
Lunch today will be 'bendy veg soup' and some crackers with soft cheese and sliced cucumber on top.
I may dig out some stewed apples from the freezer and make a crumble.I have plenty of milk so can make a pot of custard to add a bit to the apple crumble with.Another day when I don't need to shop:):):) Only have a small amount of cheese in the fridge so will grate it up to make it go further Its strong cheese so I may use some in an omelette tomorrow as I have a couple of mushrooms in the frisge as well.so tomorrow dinner with last of the salad is sorted. only 24 more days until the end of the month:):) keep on frugalling chums
