Just found this thread again, I'm on day three of a fiscal fast, not sure how long I can last but the longer the better. I seem to have quite a bit in the cupboards and freezer for main meals but I'm missing other stuff like something sweet or just snackey food, anyway will try to remember to post, good luck if you two are going to continue

I am always trying new things, so raiding YS bins is very cost effective but I do need to space the trips out so I can clear the freezer as well. I found loads of spice sauces in the freezer so need to start using them up. When combined with a veg box every few weeks and I can avoid a big supermarket shop for months. It helps that I bulk buy and then make my own bread etc. Without that I would need to buy more regularly or freeze a lot more. I shall be off to Aldi at the beginning of the month and will do a top up shop that could get me through several months of YS items. I really should stop spending a little every few days as it makes it impossible to achieve a 7 day fast.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Hi Ya F/Fasters well its 24th of the month and I have £7.27 left in my food purse and nothing to buy apart from 6 eggs later on this week, probably Thursday.I shall get them from my local butcher who does them for 99p for large free range ones, and they are very nice and are quite big as well.
I am doing a stock take of my freezer this morning so I will have a rough idea of how well its doing and how many more meals I have in there.I then type it up and stick with a fridge magnet to the outside of the freezer. The last one I did was in January and I know I have a lot of stuff crossed off and it is starting to get a little more room in there.I only have the library to go to this morning which is in the opposite direction from the shops so I won't be tempted thank goodness. So seven more days until the end of the month and fingers crossed I will have some more pennies to put into the tiny ice cream holiday fund :):)Every little helps
Onwards and upwards chumsI have only been to the shops twice this month ,it does take a bit of getting used to not shopping every couple of days but it is so worth it when you have cash left over at the end of the month .I figured that I bought the food in the first place to be eaten and not stashed away in the cupboard :):)
I even used up the last of the spuds yesterday that were starting to get a bit sprouty looking.I whipped of the bits ,peeled them and boiled and mashed them with some grated cheese and then in ice cream scoops rounded them into small ball portions and froze them for using leter.Nothing at all has been wasted or binned this month.Every scrap of food is being used up :):):)

    Good morning fiscal fasters :)

I haven't popped by for a while but really need to get on track again so here I am. I have started doing click and collect with T***o cos I am now back out at work full time so OH picks it up on his way home. I've just started my own business so every penny has to be squeeeeeeeezed as far as it will go and it means no impulse buys.

I need a birthday card and postage and some electric this week but apart from that I mean to spend nothing until next Monday at the earliest.

    Good luck everyone

A lot of stuff I have put in there has been when I have made extra and batch cooked Curries etc, but some of it is YS stuff. The river cobbler cost me 10p :)As I have been dieting for the past 9 months I have been fairly frugal with eating as well :):) lots of HM soups.I think my freezer store is slowly coming down though. If I have veg that maybe not be eaten I will chop and freeze it hence the chopped diced, sliced peppers.I like those in soups or casseroles, lasagnes etc.The stewded fruit had been given to me from fallen apples, and once stewed and frozen make excellent puddings, crumbles, pies or even mixed with natural yoghurt.I did have three bags of Rhubarb as a friend has an allotment and she gave me some of her excess stuff.I haven't bought any meat or fish since before Christmas though as I am trying to use up what I have.At the moment I have half a dozen onions that I am trying to make some room for as I like to peel, dice and freeze in a bag so I always have a handful when I need them:):) a good few bits will go so I can have some room. Some of the sausages will be used when my DGS are on their Easter break as I look after four of them during the holidays:):) and four hungry little lads will soon polish of my bangers:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
