Hi everyone, my home computer is out of action atm while we wait for s new internet provider, so just catching up in the library. Still being frugal, though have just ordered candlle craft stuff - however, this will be covered buy sales from the fair and should last a long while.
Jackie, bad luck with the computer - makes me realise how difficult it is to manage without while we are offline!
Winchelsea, curry sounds good. I think I need to batch cook some beans too.
Erica, well done, first of the month finally here!
I am having a small food spend today, will probably go for a few NSDs from Sunday. I have a day's trial in the coffee shop I applied for on Monday, hope it goes OK.
Take care everyone, I'm missing checking in each day!0 -
Morning everyone
Back home-phew. We returned yesterday two days early as the weather was so bad and the little one was getting frustrated cooped up in a caravan.
The fortnightly shop was done first thing this morning so hopefully no extra spending until the 14th November. I do have some Christmas gifts to buy but they are budgeted for. Is that ok or am I breaking the rules.
Sorry to hear about all the naughty computers out there.
I'm off to do some batch cooking later and make some bread. Nothing is going to be wasted from now on.....I see some strange meals on the horizon.:rotfl: later I plan to carry on knitting the socks I'm doing for mum for Christmas.
One bit of good news of the 50 onions planted a while back one has come through:j. Fingers crossed for the other 49.
Have a good day everyone. Keep warm.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

It's the first of the month Finally!! I am no longer broke, but I know that won't last long. I just paid my rent and I am going to get bills that must be paid. I think I am going to get entirely used to doing many fiscal fasts. It never hurts to know how to $ave a little money here and there.
I am cooking myself something new, Potatoe Gnoochi, I had some last night and it was really good. I need to go through my cuboards again and make a list of all that I have and meal plan on that.
I also went to the bank and took out some 'emergency' money to put away. I have had those 'just in case' times and have been glad I had a little cash with me.
I think my Gnoochi lunch is ready!! Take care friends!!! The Fiscal Fast continues.Frugal in '14!!!! God Bless all of You!!! Frugal = 'Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!!!'-Saying from the Great Depression in the US 1929-39. Love you, Erica Dawn0 -
For some reason this evening I was thinking of what to get my family members for Christmas. Luckily for me, I came up with a great idea for my Aunts gifts. Hand knit slippers!!! I already have all the supplies I need and the pattern. I already have my Mom's gift now I just need to look for something to knit for my Dad. He already has a scarf, prayer throw.... Hmmmm.... Must snoop online and look at knitting patterns.... The Frugal 'elfing' (Pronounce it Elf- ing i.e. making Christmas gifts) begins!!
This is going to be fun!! I already have plenty of wrapping paper, given to my by friends. I MIGHT have to look for some accessories to sew on them, hmm... Thrift Shops or Trading.....either will work....:)Frugal in '14!!!! God Bless all of You!!! Good Morning all, well a bright but chilly day here in north Kent.I am making some leek and potato soup this morning ,also some sponge cake for my grandsons tomorrow I usually go to Sunday dinner there every week so I like to bake something for the boys as their mum doesn't get a lot of time to bake as she works full time along with her husband.I think a nice Victoria sandwich will go down a treat for them
I have done an inventory of my cupboards and apart from fresh veg and milk I have no need to go to the shops hardly at all this month. My Dds ma-in-law phoned last night and said she is sending me down a big bag of apples from their tree as the crop has been really good this year so tomorrow I will be peeling, chopping ,stewing and then freezing them for later on in the winter.I did a bagful a couple of weeks ago and shared them between myself and my youngest DD.boxed up and frozen they are great for crumbles, pies or even on top of porridge or cereal for breakfast Last night for pudding I had some black grapes chopped up with some natural yoghurt and a handful of cereal crunched up on top No differant than a Mueller crunch but a fraction of the price and it was a very nice pudding:).I have also done this with a third of a tin of valie rice pudding and some chopped fruit and crunched up cereal. Those Mueller Corners are nice but a bit pricey I find.
So with luck very little cash will be spent this month.Today is day two of NSDs and I am hoping to go as long as I can before having to prise open my purse:):)
Happy frugalling chums

Hi all, well I haven't posted on MSE for some time but have been following most days, just not been up to it, but I need a fiscal fast as I am going for a few days away next week and have very little money to go with, I'm using my fuel and food account for that week, plus what is going to be leftover from this week so I went food shopping yesterday and spent £7.63 and that should be enough for a few days, so here I go:)
Dinner today is mash, sos and mixed veggies, lunch is HM tom and lentil soup which I made yesterday and should last a couple of days. I have £17.37 left so I hope I will be able to take £10 extra with me. (I have very little in my cupboards, as I had to live out of them a couple of months ago and stocks haven t been replaced):(
See you all each day:)

Had to spend a little bit, but not too bad. Was very busy on Thursday, and didn't get round to cooking what I meant to - a dish to take to a shared supper. So, I had to dive in to S**nsb*rys, and spent £4.50 I would rather have kept in the purse. Actually there was plenty of food, so we could have managed without what I bought, but I wouldn't have felt right if I'd turned up empty-handed.
Then yesterday I bought some bananas, as I do love to have one a day. Still have some apples and one pear from my trees. The apple tree a Cox's Orange Pippin, was bought for our golden wedding two years ago. It had eight apples the first year, one scabby one in 2012 (a bad year for apples anyway), and fourteen nice ones this year. The pears are Concorde, and very tasty. I bought that tree at our last house, and brought it here in a pot 10 years ago, and it fruits really well now.
Anyway, the purse has remained closed today, so all going well on the whole. Good luck to everyone else on the FF!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Good Afternoon chums, day three and another NSD today:):) thank goodness.DD arrived with a big bag of apples from her MIL tree so I shall be peeling, stewing and freezing for the rest of the day.She also gave me three shampoos and three conditions which were Paul Mitchells from her New York trip.(freebies from the hotel) and a couple of grape jellys that I love .I have put the jellies into the fridge and they will go to flavour a yoghurt later on this week.I made my vat of leek and potato soup so I have more than enough for lunches this week.Shopping list by the kettle in the kitchen is totally blank
:) so with luck no necessities to buy at all, fingers crossed. Its coffee morning on Tuesday at the U3A but I have a couple of free coffees from my Dobbies card I can use one of them.We always hold it in the local big Dobbies store and if you get a card for £10.00 per year you get two free coffees a month .As they are around £2.00 each its well worth having a card plus you get discounts on bulbs and other bits.Good return on a ten pounds outlay.
Just going to sort out a few bits in my freezer now .Hope you are all keeping the purses shut firmly:)
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Evening everyone
Day 2 of my fiscal fast. It feels nice not spending. I have spent the day de-hoarding and my bedroom is starting to look like a room. I have a massive list of things to do between now and Christmas so it should keep me busy and out of the shops. Hopefully I will find some stuff to sell.
It's chilly here today. Hope you are all keeping wam.

Hi everyone, unexpectedly back online - hurray!
Do you know, I think this could become a way of life. I went out today, enjoyed going for a walk, spent money on coffee and a scone, and a newspaper, but wished I hadn't - felt like a waste. I think I'm giong to experiment with a flask in future, unless I have company. Think I need a scheme like your Dobbies card, Jackie!
Everyone seems very determined and busy, I like this time of year, it seems the right time for having a clearout and preparing for Winter.
Erica, good idea on the crafty Christmas presents. Fortunately I don't have too many to buy for but we are likely to spend on extras and going out as DD is bringing a friend home for a week.
I am going to go for 4 NSDs this week, will probably shop on Friday then may have a go at a full week.
Need to go and finish dinner - bye for now. MM.0
