Thanks catz! NSD yesterday. Don't plan on going out today so should be fine. Tomorrow is when I'd usually give in and buy juice for the house and things! Only got 2 loo rolls left so may have to give in there! Trying to cut back on spends and calories! Back at the gym tomorrow! Just watching fat families - where do these people get the money!? Thing is, I have an account at the local shop so even if I leave my purse I can still give in and put it on credit :( must resist!

Welshbookworm - do u have food in store? Many bills to pay? Should be doable, we're here if you need ideas/support!

    Have managed two days :j:j

Have had a lovely family walk and took a picnic which we ate in the mist!

This morning I continued my declutter (which I have to say is very liberating) and we took it all to the CS bins/recycling/tip on our way out so a good day all round.

I have loads of YS bread and wraps in the freezer for this weeks lunches plus loads of odds and ends of HM soup along with 4.5 litres  of turkey soup in individual portions so no excuse for spending:D

Like JackieO I have meal planned from the overloaded freezer and cupboard. Our Christmas leftovers are going a long way although I am down to my last portion of turkey.

Leftover pork and stuffing from Christmas Eve in HM rolls with onions and apple sauce with some HM wedges and salad for dinner as I must work my way through that freezer:o.

Got well stocked up on cheese, ham and other festive YS so I am determined not to spend until at least next Sat and I hoping that will just be milk, fruit and veg.

Best of luck everyone and keep up the good work. We will survivie January:)

I do have a good mixture of things in the freezer, thank heavens!
Found a duck crown lurking at the bottom of the freezer! That the next few days sorted.

    Day 2 completed:)

I have started a new shopping list for items as I run out of them at the moment it only has ice cream on it:D

Last nights dinner was roast chicken. It was a tiny little one too but did all of us for dinner plus there are leftovers, so will be using that up this week. Cooked up gammon in sc again, loads of sliced meat for fridge and freezer. Dd and DS2 ate the last of the apple crumble for pudding and ds3 just had an apple, I couldn't manage anything else:)

I have a rough meal plan for the week which is adaptable depending on left overs. Haven't looked at it yet today so will check in a mo and check fridge to see what I can come up with for tonight:D

Day two and knitting club this morning, so no shopping at all to buy.I'm hanging on to my cash this month like a limpet.it will take some good maketing to get me to buy much this month :):) Lots in the freezer and cuboards at the moment, and a revision of my lists of stuff that go on the insides of the doors of the cupboards, and the outside of the freezer is on the cards for this afternoons job.

Hi everyone. Have just completed another NSD and as I am tucked up in front of the fire with a cup of coffee and my new book and not going anywhere there is no danger of any spending:)

Had a bacon joint our of the freezer with egg, HM chips and peas and it was yummy. I made sure i carved enough off to make a quiche for tomorrow's tea before it all got scoffed!

I cannot believe how long it is until pay day:eek: I am so thankful that we didn't overspend at Christmas because even though the bank account is looking a bit sparse at least there is money in it I do not have any outstanding bills to worry about. We had one of the nicest Christmases ever and my inlaws are still going on about how lovely it was. It really just goes to show what is really important.

A fiscal fast is really going to help out and I hoping to do at least one more this month. I am hoping (!) that if we can get through January then February should be a bit easier as we do not have any council tax to pay for a couple of months which is always a relief.

Well done with all your efforts and keep up the good work

  • What a great thread :T Very inspiring to read how everyone is getting on.

I'd like to join but there is no way i could do 7 days with no spending, it seems like every week there is something - DD's dance and drama fees, school wanting a £ for this and a £ for that, extra petrol if DH has to travel further than expected for work (though we do get this back at the end of the month) etc etc.

I'm already living out of the cupboards & freezer this month, buying only milk and fruit (will make bread and have tonnes of frozen and tinned veggies). I have a stock of birthday cards/presents/stamps/stationery etc, loads of wool and fabric to keep my hands busy and we visit the library each week for books. Kids have all the clothes they need except DD1 needs new school sweatshirts (£9 each) so thats £18 gone this week already :o Next week she is performing with her school at the MEN, already have the tickets but will need to pay for petrol and to park etc. DS was in hospital at the end of last week so the usual parking charges and vending machine snacks.

Ah it's never ending with kids is it?! But on a positive note i'm planning to start DD2 potty training next week, bye bye nappies - certainly won't miss that expense!!

Good luck with your challenges everyone!

  • Hi everyone! I'vve been MIA for a little bit but, I have been knitting a prayer shawl and just finnished knitting a preemie hat. Knitting the preemie hat was a little emotional for me because I was a preemie. (1lbs, 10oz) and 12 and a half inches long!
Anyway, I plan to make the Fiscal Fast a part of my New Year's Resolution, especially since I got a $128 electric bill!! That on an $800 budget.
So I had to go to the store today for some important things I can not go without, so I will start my fiscal fast tomorrow.
I received a Bread Machine for Christmas, so maybe that will help cut out $ for bread. I just have to get used to the machine. I haven't made any bread yet because I am affraid to mess it up. Oh well, I'll have to get used to it. Trial and Error.
Happy New Year!!!! We can do this Fiscal Fast with our eyes closed!!!
