3nsd for us here! I'm not including our family day out yesterday because we put money aside for it last month, we took the kids to an under 10's theme park and for ll four of s it only came to £33, this included getting on a new Santa ride which took us to his grotto.
We had a great day nd the kids got a present each.
We took dh work car so free diesel, and I made a huge packed lunch of tikka baguettes Hesse cobs crisps, hm sausage rolls and hm pizza we also took a Hermes of ready made coffee to keep us warm n two mugs lol.
So a very cheap day and its was fantastic.
But not bought anything since Thursday morning, so I think I'm doing wellDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

Hi Chums well today is my first day since the 17th and I will have to buy some bread to tide me over until next week so I am really pleased at how things have gone.I have been eating from the freezer and food cupboards and it helps that because I have been so busy with my family I am rarely around during the day anyway.Last night I had dinner at my youngest daughters as it was my son-in-laws birthday and on Sunday I was at DDs for most of the day as we were decoratingThis coming week end I am away from saturday morning until Sunday night so I won't be doing a lot of cooking at home.Everything seems to be lasting out as I expected and today I am making some leek and potato soup with the last of the leeks which will do for lunch for several days.I still have quite a bit of fruit left which will me used up to make either a pie or crumble later this week and I have been using some of the long-life milk up as I seemed to have about 3 litres of the stuff in cartons in the cupboard.
Well done everyone for managing as well as you have .Being away from the shops for well over a week now means I have been getting on with other things i,e, wrapping presents and sorting out some cards which I make myself.I like to try to get everything more or less organised as soon as I can before Christmas as I hate rushing around at the last minute
Onwards and upwards chums

P.S.EDC well done you have started on the first step to fiscal-fasting and every day you manage it you are winning0 -
I did well with my spends today I bought some milk and some fruit from M&S which was reduced and also a cooked chicken which had been reduced to £3.00 but it was big enough so I had dinner with salad tonight with it and tomorrow I shall slice it up and freeze some breast slices and the rest I will strip and make a curry which will get portioned up as it was cooked and weighed around just under 2 kilos for £3.00 it was a bargain.0

Does anyone else sometimes find themselves thinking, "what do I need at the store?" During a fiscal fast? I am thinking it is just out of habbit for me. I couldn't help thinking that today but resisted temptation. I was thinking, "I need some cheese." LOL!!
I remembered I a big block of cheese that I had in the freezer. I felt so smart, and happy. I don't have to get cheese. Can't wait untill the 30th, because I only have $32 in my checking account. I live on a tight budget. To others who are doing the fiscal fast, YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!Frugal in '14!!!! God Bless all of You!!! Doing the fiscal fast worked out so well for me this month and meant I came GC budget with £12 still in purse and loads of stuff for meals.
I start my GC for December tomorrow and will put my £20 in the grocery purse, making £32.
So am thinking I will try the fiscal fast again for a week, wish me luck, its not that |I actually need anything as loads in but |I LIKE going shopping.
Right have taken some bread, bacon, sausage and beef stew out of the freezer should be enough for 2 or 3 days as have plenty of eggs and some mushrooms to use up.Slimming World at target0 -
I have around just over £12 odd to last until Christmas in my food purse. This is a seperate purse that I keep only for food bought for indoors ,and I have bulging freezer and cupboards so hopefully I shan't need to go anywhere near the food shops until after Chistmas apart from buying milk I am away for the last 10 days of December so really have virually nothing to buy in the food area at all.I managed to make three portions of chicken curry with the left over chicken which have gone into the freezer.I have Sunday dinner at DDs every week so from the 20 days I have to feed myself in December its now cut down to 17.Tomorrow night I am at DDs looking after my grandsons overnight so that's one less day so its now down to 16 days.I have two nights out in December at friends for dinner so thats now 14 nights dinner .Not a problem as I have about a months supply of evening meals in the freezer . The supermarkets aren't going to see me or my cash hopefully.
My shopping list ( small book by the kettle) is blank and I have no need to buy anything. As its December I am pretty busy going to carol concerts and school stuff with my DGS .Most lunchs will be HM soup and crackers and breakfasts will be porridge or cereals.I bake quite a few cakes and biscuits so apart from fresh milk I can't think of anything I need at all.
I am stocked up for the coming month. Plus by using the stuff in store I can make room for the January sales when a lot of Chistmas stuff is knocked down in price I bought all my Chrismas mincemeat last January for this years pies at 20p a jar instead of over a pound.Forward planning is the key.
I think we have all done so well this year with our fiscal fasting and once you get out of the habit of running to the shop for just one thing which inevitably turns into several its suprising how little you are actually spending
We should have a pat on the back smiley I think as you all deserve a big pat on the back .Welcome to all the newbies who will soon become regulars hopefully
Take care everyone

Hi fiscal fasters it is so nice to hear you are all doing so well. I have beed AWOL for a little while but I have kept to the spirit of things and have only spent when absolutely necessary. I have learned so much on here that I actually feel a little foolish when I think of the years when i believed I was good with money and now know that I could have been do so much more:o
I still cannot believe how little I am now spending to feed the family and yet we are eating better than ever and the cupboards and the freezer are literally bursting!
I have become a YS convert and get all my meat and bread on a Tuesday night which seems to be the optimum time in our SM. I pop in before I pick up DD from drama club so I don't even have to make a special trip. I have meal planned religiously and this has saved a fortune and removed a lot of stress as i work full time and used to find it so hard to in the evenings trying to juggle everything (and usually failing).
I love cooking and baking and really enjoy my time in the kitchen at the weekend, especially in this awful weather. The sense of satisfaction as you pack it all into the freezer and the cake tins is so nice (do I need to get out more?:rotfl:).
Thanks to all of you for your inspiration, ideas and good humour.
I have shopped today and will not go again until next Thursday (to use my last Aldi voucher) and I am hoping that will be it until Christmas week. So, I am aiming for a slightly unconventional 5 day fiscal fast this week.
Keep up the good work everyone - it is soooooo worth it :jOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
