Hi ppl.,
I have rec'd the following message from the good ppl from be2.co.uk...
"
Your be2 Premium Membership
Dear ***********,
The automatic renewal of your Premium Membership has failed due to a problem with your credit card/bank account. We have asked you to update your payment details in order to settle your account. Unfortunately, we are yet to receive payment from your credit card/bank account.
As there is a valid contract between you and be2, we will now take legal measures and hand this over to our collection agency. This may affect your credit rating.
If you have any questions or are having difficulties paying this invoice, please contact us immediately by writing to our customer service team.
when I did some read up on this company from this site and other forums online, I was completely gobbed smacked by the stories I've ready and heard.
Is there any legitimacy to their claims?

I signed up for a free trial of this site simply to gain a joining reward from another site. Should have read up on them first. When you take a premium membership there is an option to opt in to an automated matching service. Click this option and you get mail quickly it sends mail for you as well so then you are judged to have used the site. I didnt want a date lol so I didnt click this I did however try to cancel my account. Then found its virtually impossible. The links for cancelling are removed for 14 days to allow them to process your payment? Then you dont have time to cancel.
Basically google is your friend here there are Blogs that will tell you what to do in relation to this site. I follwed some advice and mailed them this.

I wish to formally cancel my mebership of your website. I did not like the look of the website and have decided it is not for me. I have not used any services and have taken screenshots of all my mail boxs to prove that I have not communicated with anyone. I have also deactivated my profile. Please respond to my request within 24 hours otherwise I will copntact my Credit card company and ask them to deny payments. If I fail to hear from you or if any money is debited from my account I will make a complaint to the European Consumer Centre. I look foreward to your swift reply to this matter.

The other alternative is not to sign up for things just to get a 'free' reward and then you won't be in the situation at all. In situations like this it's sometimes hard to see who is getting ripped off the consumer or the business.0 -

Sadly your ideological thinking will not work. Its part of the ploy. They must calculate that a % of free trial takers will keep the service even if they didnt intend to originally. Some company's think you will be impressed enough to keep the service where as company's like Be2 try to catch you out and bill you anyway. I took a Netflix free month trial for a bonus from another site with no intention of keeping it and ended up subscribed member. Everyone knows the deal.0 -

As you stated yourself though you wouldn't have used the companies dating services as you didn't want a date. So you must be in the % of free trial takers just signing up to claim free offers with no intention of using the companies services ie wasting their time and costing them money. If there wasn't people abusing the free trial offers no doubt half the hurdles to get out of the subscriptions wouldn't be there.0 -

If you'd have sent me a message back like that, I'd have told you where to go - there's no need to be an !!!! to them.
They probably have hundreds of emails a day to deal with - why should yours take priority?0 -

Have you ever ventured into the freebies & comps section of this forum? There are literally thousands of greedy-grabbers doing exactly that, and with the backing of MSE.
It may well be legal/above board, but you have to question the spirit behind it.
I think it's karma at work when the constantly-taking-types get caught out by their own self-gratification. True proof that you don't get owt for nowt.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
