It was a bad campaign, simple truth. If I see a £5 minimum spend for say £3 off on an offer I wont take it unless its an item I seriously want. That point obviously was not communicated very well. See it all the time. Big leaflet £20 OFF YOUR NEXT SHOP then in tiny little text "Minimum £500 spend required" Putting out any campaign with an expected 100% uptake will always end up going wrong.
One other major point with ref to your point C. People who take a freebie are not customers, you only hope they will become one in the future.

Giving out freebies is a form of promotion and advertising you obviously fail to understand. Has worked for countless company's over many decades. I will continue to take them and then sometimes I will buy from that company and sometimes I wont. Thats the calculated risk they take.

No, it was a free £20 item with any purchase, claim a code to enter at the checkout at your next purchase, no minimum spend. To get the item you had to buy something, anything, but the cheapest item was £3 on his site.

It was promoted on here as a free item, worth £20, get your code here.

Greedy people just saw it as "oh look I can get a free item". The problem is that the offer was originally sent to his existing customers, one of whom posted it on here, and that's when the vultures set in.

He is in the process of sorting it out so that the items can go to genuine customers, rather than grabbers like yourself - who take the offer, then realise it is not of any use to them. This is why he did as a redemption code, to try to deter the carefree-snatchers.

The calculated risk is that he did not expect a load of greedy-grabbers to ruin his promotion, which is why he is left holding the stock, that he hoped would have encouraged a quick boost to his cashflow.

He had the stock to cover a 100% uptake, he had a system set up to only issue enough codes to cover the 100% uptake, but it wasn't cheap to set up.

But hey, it didn't affect you personally, so you just keep pillaging what you can.

There was a minimum spend, it was £3 :D

This was an easily avoided problem but I cant be bothered explaining any more. Better procedures would have prevented this. Cant blame the grabbers as you call them. They picked up something that said free then found out it actually costs £3. All I can say is they obviously didnt think the two item combination of the cheapest £3 item available and the free £20 item to be worth £3 total. Speaks volumes.

It wasn't advertised as free by the seller, it was incorrectly posted on here by a grabber as free, and in the desperate clamour to snatch something, they didn't bother to actually check the details.

When the grabbers realised they actually had to dip into their own pocket for once, then they ignored the offer, but they could have got £23 worth of goods, delivered, but were far too tight fisted to part with £3. That speaks volumes too.

But better procedures as to how the offer was taken up would have prevented the problem. If the offer was meant for previous customers only it would have been simple to devise a way that only previous customers get it.

You said previously that the £20 costed £5, so £20 is only the RRP. In that case what does the £3 item cost, 75p?. Its one reason I like Ebay. You put stuff on at 99p start and it sells for what people are prepared to pay for it. Ive had 7 bids on a set of Primark pyjamas and then had designer coats sell at £3. Stock is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. People obviously thought the £23 RRP worth of items were not worth £3. If they did they would have paid it.

It was emailed directly to all previous customers. It just so happened that one of them was a greedy-grabber desperate for an MSE Thanks
    count.

Understood, but then the offer should only have been available to previous customers providing proof of previous customer information/verification. It should not have been possible for the offer to be shared with unintended recipients. Better procedures were needed.
  • As anyone discovered a way of getting the money back off of these?

I signed up for the 10 day trial. With the impression if I liked it i'd continue to use it. I already use POF and don't mind online dating. However the fact that they took the money instantly when they had no right too means I no longer want to use the site. I am having trouble cancelling and no response from them.
  • And for the record ofcourse the initial poster had reason to be rude. They've taken money off of him without consent. If I robbed your wallet and you could speak to me would you be polite?
  • I signed up for a free trial of this site simply to gain a joining reward from another site. Should have read up on them first. When you take a premium membership there is an option to opt in to an automated matching service. Click this option and you get mail quickly it sends mail for you as well so then you are judged to have used the site. I didnt want a date lol so I didnt click this I did however try to cancel my account. Then found its virtually impossible. The links for cancelling are removed for 14 days to allow them to process your payment? Then you dont have time to cancel.

Basically google is your friend here there are Blogs that will tell you what to do in relation to this site. I follwed some advice and mailed them this.

    Dear Be2
