Need An Account With Debit Card Facility

I currently hold 2 Nationwide flexaccounts and have done for several years now, however they wont upgrade it due to the fact i have a CCJ - no thanks to my ex.

I need a debit card to be able to do my weekly food shop online as with 2 babies under the age of 2, and on my own with them and nobody to look after them as you can imagine shopping is a bit of a nightmare!
The past couple of weeks I have just been picking up bits as and when i need them from the local co-op but its costing me a fortune much more than i normally spend :(

Does anyone know of an account that i may be able to get which would give me a debit card with it?

Go for halifax easycash. You get a visa electron debit card with it and you can apply online for it.

  • I have been trying to get a debit card for 2 years. I bring in £1700 a month and still cant get one, i've got a basic account with abbey and a flex account with nationwide. Can any one give me some advice.
  • thats what I was thinking. the eashcash is a basic account. no credit scoring. just the usualy checks
  • toffee, are you not able to you any of your cards in a shop?
  • i cant get any cards because of my credit history
  • many basic accounts have debit cards. some basic accoutns you are credit scored for and others you are not

as stated before the basic account at Halifax called Easycash has a visa electron debit card
  • Another way is to open a Lloyds tsb current account they are visa debit cards!
  • I have a basic account with Halifax, an easycash account and I think its brilliant! Haven't had any problems with it at all. You can apply online at https://www.halifax.co.uk. Click on current accounts and choose easycash.
I have 6 outstanding defaults and a ccj and still got this account. Infact, I applied online and received my card just under 2 weeks later, they didn't request any ID or anything, just received the card etc. You get a visa electron card with the account and I find most places accept it, I haven't been anywhere yet that doesn't.

Also you could go into a yorkshire bank branch and apply for the readycash account, I don't have one of these, but am thinking of applying as I want an account for my bills and one for my spare money etc. With the readycash account you get a full maestro card which you could use online, at shops etc.

Natwest do a step account which offers a solo. You can apply for this at https://www.natwest.co.uk

    Hope this helps
