Well this is it! 2014 finally here (and it hasn't taken that long to arrive....scary!) and it is my final year (provided everything goes to plan) of being in debt!!
So far I have paid off £19,773. I have £8224 left to pay.
Thought I had better set out some new years resolutions to keep me on track and seeing as its such an important year they are all debt related.
1) pay my overdraft off by end of March (£1356)
2) Pay barclaycard no 1 by end of July (£3234)
3) Pay barclaycard no 2 by end of Nov (£3634)
4) Buy a bottle of champagne to celebrate becoming debt free!
I am feeling so positive right now! Lets hope I can carry on saving/earning cash in any way possible, cheap meals, deals, surveys, ebay, nectar points etc and get that debt paid off! Also hoping for a settlement figure from Barclaycard to help me along the way ......... fingers crossed.
Happy new year to all my fellow Debt Free Wannabes! :beer:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Had a good day today in the money saving stakes!! I've been on a 2 year contract for my mobile and it started off at £35 a month and kept increasing every few months to just short of £50! I tried to get out of the contract a year ago as I thought they were taking the mickey but I couldn't. It's up for renewal in about a fortnight and I was hoping to go for a sim only contract which would save me about £35 a month! (more money towards paying my debt! Hooray!) but then my phone broke! (boo) tried everything under the sun to fix it but nothing has worked so it was looking like I'd have to buy a new phone. But today I was given a phone just like my old one for free!!!! It works with my sim card so I now have a good working phone I can get a sim only contract for when my upgrade is due and better still I can sell my old one for spares or repairs!! Yay!!! I also got 22p off my next shop from s'burys and used some extra nectar point vouchers. Not so impressive but it all helps! :TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Feeling a bit down today but goodness knows why as I haven't had too bad a day. I have done my back in so couldn't do much so decided to stay sat on the settee and get some e-baying done. I listed about 13 items, all cheap stuff that I put on buy it now simply because I knew it wouldn't make much and wanted a fast sale. It worked as I have made £11 so far today. I also got £50 of Amazon vouchers through the post as part of a rewards scheme that is run at work. The scheme is finishing so we had to cash in all our points. I had been saving up for ages trying to buy something I could sell, not realising I could buy vouchers. Those will come in handy for buying birthday presents and I may treat myself to an e-book or two. I have also paid another £20 off my debt out of the money I had left over from this weeks food shop! So I'm doing good but for some reason still feel a bit fed up! Maybe its due to being sat in all day and not getting any exercise.
Tried to earn some swag bucks too but got bored with it and gave up. I'm not sure I like that site. It is still early days though yet. I have to give it a chance!
Treating myself to a glass of wine (got a few bottles for christmas that I'm trying to make last! Ha ha! As if!) and going to watch a bit of tv. Hopefully I'll be in a better mood tomorrow as I've lost more to e-bay!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Why when you make a little bit of extra income to help your debt plan along a bit, does something go wrong and undoes all your good work?
Made £20.50 on ebay yesterday, went to work this am, was in so much pain with my back I actually felt sick and I couldn't move. Rang the docs, luckily they got me in straight away but I've had to take the day off work now to get to the docs and rest my back so my wage will be deducted a day's pay! Great!
Hopefully The £23 odds worth of drugs they gave me (owch! That hurt almost as much as the back pain!)will kick in and I can get back to work tomorrow. Dont want to go any more backwards than I have done today!:(LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

I sometimes wonder if e-bay is really worth the hassle! I put something on a buy it now where I'll be making about £2 profit. Listed it as "Brand new, still in cellophane wrapper" and got some plonker sending me messages saying I hadn't said what the condition was. Is it damaged? Is it torn, stained? Do I smoke?Etc. Grrr! Why do people not read the auctions? I had another item which I displayed next to a tape measure on the photograph so people could see the length and I got a message asking how long it was! Look at the photo!! I think I'll be reverting back to car boot sales for my junk! Its far less hassle! :mad:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Hi Rach,
Thanks for popping in!! Yes I feel like that too sometimes!! Usually after something good has happened! You seem to gain an extra tenner from somewhere then lose £50 somewhere else. Everytime I get a bonus from work something breaks down or needs paying for! Had a quick nosey at your diary! You are at round about what I was at when i had my LBM and thats almost 2 years ago now and I know it wont seem like it now but time really does go fast and your debt will decrease in no time at all! You just need to stay positive , have determination and not spend any money!! Ha ha!! (Don't worry you get used to it after a bit and then you start to really begrudge spending money on anything other than your debt!)
Good luck!

I know exactly what you mean.....
I don't think I can buy clothes anymore from a 'normal' shop!:rotfl:
I am past the age where I need to have what everyone else is wearing and can be a bit more *creative*
I am shameless and grab whatever I can get for free!!!!
One thing is for sure, this debt is NOT going up....I know life keeps getting in the way but I can't waste money on rubbish anymore
