Hi Em! Long time no see! How are you getting on with your plan? I'm good thanks! I've reduced my plan now by almost a year! There is finally light at the end of the tunnel! I just need to crack on and work hard at raising the rest of the cash to get it paid off! You must be down to a few months now?xLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

That's fantastic news well done! I'm not 100% certain on how much I've got left, around 12k I think. I'm trying not to kill myself so much over it now, I'm feeling so much better in myself and starting to enjoy life much more! We have the house up for sale now, so hoping to make some headway when it sells! XLBM April 2011 DMP June 2011 DFD [STRIKE]Jan 2015 Aug 2014 March 2014[/STRIKE] Ended DMP Jan 2013

Well after having a bit of good luck recently and managing to pay a chunk off my debt, I am now at a more managable £11021 compared to the £27924 that I started with.
The road so far hasn't been what I expected it to be, in many different ways! It has been easier than I expected regarding dealing with my creditors (i thought I'd have threats and bailiffs etc) so in that way it has been quite plain sailing. I wasn't expecting to feel so down and stressed out though after celebrating my first year! I seemed to get there really quickly, time flew by, I paid a ton off and got £2k written off by MBNA, but for some reason I started to feel really down about it all. I feel sometimes like I could do with a therapist to sort my head out. I seem to get more stressed the nearer I get to paying it off. I am putting it down to impatience now that I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I just want to get it all cleared and over with.
So......In an attempt to gee myself up and get focussed instead of stressing, I have decided to set myself a new challenge and try and pay the rest of my debt off in a year! Yes its a big task and I doubt I will manage it as it means paying almost £1000 a month, but if I don't aim high I will never achieve it in a reasonable amount of time. At least if I haven't paid it in 12 months, I will not be too far off.
So, I'm on the hunt for more stuff to ebay, more surveys to fill in for nectar points to spend on shopping or other rewards, more budget meal ideas, I have even been freewheeling my car on all the downhill roads to work every day to try and save fuel! I'm going to have to be stricter with my "Two purse Challenge" because I keep dipping into the second one for change and when the third week arrives and I have to live on what I have saved in it, I have nothing in it! Grr! I have copied a spreadsheet from work which we use to record our figures and adapted it to record my challenge. It shows what i owe on each debt, what I have paid from the start of the challenge, the percentage I need to be at to date to be on track and the percentage I am actually at and also how much I have paid and how much left to pay. I have enough stuff to do a car boot sale when / if the weather picks up again. I could just do with some more ideas. I can't think of anything I'm not already doing.
So, this could be my final year in debt, depending oh how well I do! Lets see how I do.......LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well I knew after my last post that good luck never lasts and the bills have started rolling in and taking the shine off things. My MOT is due in june, groan, and I need new tyres before I get it done. It's also 3 family members birthdays and they're all wanting to have meals out and its also fathers day. I am going to have to pay the bare minimum off my debts to make sure I have enough to cover the MOT costs etc. I really begrudge paying money off anything at the moment other than my debts. I really want to get debt free in a years time. But due to these expenses this month I am having to slip back a month on my plan. Groan. I am even doing terrible on my ebay sales. Nothing I have listed this past week has sold and I have ebay fees due to come out of my account and no ebay income to pay them with.
But I have to stay positive and carry on.... The debts will not pay themselves... It's just one of those months I guess where it's a bit of a struggle.

Had to just let you know that I have spent all evening reading your posts and wanted to say that you are amazing.
When I got into deep debt about 20 years ago, I was lucky enought to be able to pay it off by selling my house, but from that day forth have tried very hard not to get into that position again.
You really are an inspiration ... but don't let your impatience get in the way of your amazing journery.

Hi Mrspepperpot!
Thanks so much for your comments! It's nice to know there are people out there reading my diary and I appreciate your support. You are right I am impatient, and it gets to me quite a bit because I don't feel like I am doing that well, even though when I look back to where I was just over a year ago and see how far I have come I know I have done well. I have been in debt for 20 years now. I just want it to be over with and like you to never be in that position again.
Thanks again for your support! xLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well I just popped on to update my signature, I am now down to £10637! Hopefully by July pay day it will start with a 9! OOohhhh. To be less than 10k in debt! I can't wait!
I spent all my bank holiday day off inside listing stuff on ebay and it all seems to be a bit of a waste of time so far as nothing is selling. I'm praying for a last minute bidding frenzy to make it all worthwhile. I need that extra income as I'm based on commission at work and it is really quiet at the moment so it's not looking like my next wage is going to be any good.
I'm losing interest a bit in the online surveys..... I'm trying to force myself to get them done but it's so time consuming (and boring) just to earn a few pence. I know it all adds up, maybe I'm just on a bit of a downer at the moment, I need to get motivated and keep working at it.LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

hi there GMOD
You have done amazingly well. Keep going and you will wipe this out. Ebay has been a bit up and down with me too. Its swings and roundabouts with it at times but persistence pays off in the long run. I am absolutely delighted for you that you have come so far in such a short time.
Keep going don't falter ... you are more than capable of beating this. Look forward to your next update.
Take care of yourself.0
