I know a couple of people who got the TalkTalk March madness and the initial problems seem to be ironed out now, great deal if you got it.

The TalkTalk offer now (well June) is £19.99 for bb and free evening and w/end calls but the speed is only 512.

    WARNING - BULLDOG - WARNING

You can not get hold of the customer service. They hijack your phone line as well the free voice mail is awful. You can use the free modem they send you to connect to the internet but you cannot use your own... My home wireless network is currently useless! DO NOT USE THEM. They might be cheap but they are TERRIBLE.

I have been with them for 5 weeks. I have been trying to SPEAK to customer services for 2 weeks I have been in the USA for three weeks and I am leaving them on the 18th July. HURRAY!

    Dear Money Saving Experts,

Madasafish was recently featured in Martin’s article on low cost broadband providers; and we’re very pleased about this! We feel that our 4 month free migration offer can’t be beat and we were happy for the mention.

Being a fan of Money Saving Expert myself, I would like to make myself available in this forum to those who signed up for the services because of the article or anyone who has any further questions or comments about our services. We would like to make certain that anyone who did sign up because of Martin is happy with our services.

Prior to posting this message, we have received the proper permission to post in this forum from the site administrators.

I am part of the Customer Care team at Madasafish - if you prefer to not have your query posted on this forum, please e-mail us through our website and we'll get back to you straight away.

    Happy money saving!

    Kind regards,
    Mara
Hi - does anyone know if the madasafish broadband 17.99 for 2 meg connection allows you to download 2meg a month or 5 meg, as it states both on the webpage. Have migrated from BTOpenworld to madasafish and so far has gone very well. Was paying 29.99 to BT for 1 meg connection, and now getting a 2.2 meg connection with madasafish, and will save over £200 per year
  • Duncansby,

In response to your query - Madasafish has upgraded the usage allowance on the 2Mb Max Broadband and Max Broadband Plus packages:

Max Broadband now has a 5GB usage allowance (£17.99 a month)
Max Broadband Plus now has a 20GB usage allowance (£27.99 a month)

The upgrade in usage allowance is applicable to current and new customers alike and the pricing is the same, and the 2 month free promotion and 4 month free migration promotion are still in effect.

    I hope that is helpful!

    Kind regards,
    Mara

im finally getting onto tesco bb but might be moving home in a months time. i was going thru the T & C and this is what is written :

    ( Relocation charges:
    - If you move house and want to relocate the Service to your new address (or if for any other reason you want to change the telephone line which you use for the Service) we will require you to start a new initial term of 12 months from the connection to the new telephone line
    - Relocation charge: Free )

so is it ok to sign up with them and not to worry about relocation charges. only reason im going to tesco is cause of uncap service and the price is ok. are there anyother bb providers who dont charge relocation charges + uncapp bb for 17 quid.

I'm looking at changing from Plusnet to UKOnline, because I can get the same speed for about half the price: plusnet is £18.99 for 512 kb, ukonline is £9.99 for 512 kb...

Has anyone got any experience with ukonline, good or bad?
No reliance should be placed on the above.

    Volks,

If you relocate and it renews your broadband contract, you are paying for having the service re-located, it's hidden in the fact that they renew your contract. I'll do my best to explain:

Firstly, connection costs (if you get a 'free' connection/modem) these are built into your first year of billing. After your initial contract is up, it's always worthwhile to see if you provider will give you a better deal. I would try not to prolong that first contractual period - it could cost you money.

Broadband prices are getting lower and lower and will continue to drop. Let's say you sign up for 512 Kbps broadband now and start paying £17.97 (after the first three months of £9.99). In six months from now you move for "free" and it renews your contract for another 12 months. You've now had 18 months of 512Kbps for £17.97.

In the last year, the price of broadband has fallen considerabley and I believe they will continue to fall and in 12 months the average cost of 512KB will be substantially lower than £17.97 and the 8Mb speed trials will be over; all broadband companies will be offering it commercially for equal or less than £17.97.

Most of my friends and I agree that if we were paying what we were even a year ago for broadband, we'd probably be getting ripped off. Personally, I would avoid lengthy contract periods.

If you think Tesco does suit you, have a look on the ADSL guide forum and check out their service speed/customer service statistics first. I wouldn't choose Tesco based on "free" relocation alone, I think you'll find that most broadband providers will either charge you upfront or renew (hidden cost) your contract if you relocate. Most ISPs will foot the relocation costs after your initial contract period is up.

I hope that made sense - sorry to be so long winded! (:
  • After what seemed like days (and probably was) of searching for the best new broadband connection package we eventually plumped for https://www.madasafish.com Why?

    - Free Modem
    - Free Connection
    - 2Mb speed (impressive compared to the rest of the market)
    - 5Gb monhthly useage (again, impressive compared to others)
    - Free domain name, ie. www. (YOUR CHOICE) .co.uk
    - 2 months free for new connection, £17.99 p/month after. Pro rata'd out this equates to £14.99 a month which is a fantastic deal for a 12 month contract.

Have been suitably impressed by customer service, replies to emails and notification and speed of set-up.

I really think Martin should circulate this in his next newsletter as it is such a good deal. Cant get over the free domain name - how cool is that hey?

MSE Andrea - Would it be possible to find a volunteer that would do a small table of the current offers from the various ISPs for BB. I know this would need updating on a regular basis but it sure would be a help for those of us trying to compare deals currently available. Also a confidence/quality rating would be nice. I am hopeless at that sort of thing so cannot do one myself, but if there is some techie wizard out there (like the quaffers offers for wine) who could, he or she would get a load of "Thank you" posts, I am sure as it would save trolling through the posts and websites. What do you think?.

  • I attempted to join UKonline but after 9 weeks of being told lies about when i would be connected, and over 7 hour on the phone to the shocking customer service they have i gave up. My advice would be to go with someone you can trust. it seems you get what you pay for!
