60 minutes a day in a more productive way challenge:)

This is my challenge- to myself and anyone else who cares to join in- everyone and anyone welcome :)

I'm always making excuses for things not getting done, the essay not started, the gym not visited the bathroom not cleaned.. you get the idea.. my reason is usually that there never being enough time in the day, yet in the back of my mind I'm well aware that I spend lots of time doing rubbish.

The light bulb moment was this morning, and happened like this: I'm on a late shift today so decided to have a nice lie in before the hairdressers at 11am. After watching Judge Judy (which was a repeat) I then turned over to watch Jeremy Kyle which it transpired was also a repeat, now JK is a programme that I dislike but still find myself watching when I have a morning of. So this morning I thought 'no more, what could I be doing whilst this tripe is on?' and so started my challenge to spend 60 mins each day what I would have otherwise 'wasted' doing something more productive/enjoyable.
I'm the type of person that goes 'gun ho' at challenges and changes in my life but then when I trip up I then tend to give up, by committing myself to changing the way I spend just one hour for the better I'm hoping to have a challenge I can stick with, and kick back at night feeling less guilty about wasting my time.....

Personally some of the time I want to change will include .. less time on FB, more time chatting to friends down the phone line... why do I have time to comment on statuses but not to dial a number :o
I want to spend less time on watching tv more on walking/exercise :0
To spend less time with the wine bottle more baking, to achieve it I may break the 60mins into little pieces.. 10mins here and there if I am really rushed as long as the end of the day I've spent 60 mins more productively...

anyway thanks for popping in, i hope some of you would like to join me...

oh btw this morning in the hour that I would have otherwise watch tv I set the cooker timer and managed to clean bathroom, sweep hall way, sort and send mail that needs posting and do my washing :j

oh I should have said that what I'll be doing is saying what I didn't do.. the waste of time bit... and what I spent that time doing instead and posting each day after I've done it.. posts won't be very long as spending time on the t'internet is one of the things I'm aiming to cut back on :)
what is perceived as a 'waste of time' or time well spent is personal, so please don't judge :)

I like the sound of this, I am forever saying "I don't have enough hours in the day" & yet this week I feel like I have accomplished well, not a whole lot....

I'm getting married in June, work 2 jobs, try to earn extra money by doing surveys/ebay etc, try to exercise regularly as well as keep on top of the housework & maintain some sort of social life, so I really need to organise myself better!

This evening I have about 3.5 hours in between the time I get home from my main job & the time I need to leave for my second job, so rather than wasting these precious hours I intend to spend less time watching tv & going on FB, & more time working on wedding plans, wish me luck :)

welcome aboard Pernicious and good luck!!!
I'm coming to the conclusion that although I've wasted a lot of money in my years on earth I've also wasted a lot of time into the bargain, the money issues can and are being resolved but the time i will never get back and although I will never be the type that spends her weekends conquering the three peeks then baking a carrot cake for work colleges the next day (yes I know people that spend their days doing this) I can do more and today came home to a tidy house and a guilt free evening of soaps and a nice chill!!! roll on tomorrow and an hour in the gym (hopefully ;) )
congrats on the wedding btw :)

    I'm on board lamarsi!

Only just seen this thread, so got an hour to get some productive stuff done!!
I have done quite a few bits today that I have been meaning to do, but may as well start in style and do another hour this evening.
I think I am going to write my list in the morning and then cross it off throughout the day so then I can see what I don't get done through faffing.

So this evening I am going to...

Have a bath (thanks for the idea L2B!)
Sort dry laundry and put another load on
Check my bank balance and add the direct debts that came out today in to my spreadsheet

    Woo hoo!

Thanks lamarsi, it's an awesome idea. I do fall off the wagon quite a bit with my budgeting/spending, so hopefully I can make my time productive at least if that happens

This is BRILLIANT, I wish I was one of those organised people who just seem so on top of everything. Our LBM must have collided, beginning of this week I wrote a list of things to do and vowed to do at least two a week - some of these things have been 'pending' for nearly a year!! so ashamed :(- they wouldn't even take that long to complete! Have done my two for the week! - one of which took 15mins and I have been putting it off since mid-Jan.:D

I however do not include MSE forum as a waste of time - it of course fits in to 'educational' pursuits!:rotfl:
