Body has now been disposed of but he has found evidence that they may have been coming in and out through a hole near the joists and next doors dividing wall.

So I am sat on rat duty at bottom of loft ladder, while OH is hoovering up evidence with old hoover that cuts out after 5 mins. I knew i kept it for something. He is going to set traps up there but wants to clean up so he can see if there is anything fresh.

Thank goodness you found out what it was. We had something similiar years ago in our old house, DH took out an airbrick to do some work and forgot about it. Months later my frontroom developed a disgusting smell like gas, I moved me and DS into my mums for a few days as I was convinced the house was going to blow up. DH got a plumber round who charged the earth and said he'd fixed the gas leak. Next day it was even worse so DH pulled up the floor boards only to find a dead rat under the floorboards with loads of rubbish. It had been pulling rubbish under their into it's nest and then died!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:
