    I'm pretty sure that's wrong
    The Consumer Protection Act 1987 says it is a criminal offence for a trader to display misleading price indications. If prosecuted, a company can face a maximum fine of £5,000 for each individual offence.

    A price indication is misleading if it conveys, or if consumers might reasonably be expected to infer, that (s.21):
    • The price is less than in fact it is;
    • The applicability of the price does not depend on facts or circumstances on which its applicability does in fact depend;
    • The price covers matters in respect of which an additional charge is in fact made;
    • Some person, who in fact has no such expectation, expects the price to be:
      • Increased or reduced, whether or not at a particular time or by a particular amount; or
      • Maintained, whether or not for a particular period; or
    • The facts or circumstances by reference to which the consumers might reasonably be expected to judge the validity of any relevant comparison made or implied by the indication are not what in fact they are.
    That's why Tesco give dtd
    hi everyone sorry not been on for a while really bad toothach but antibiotics are kicking in abit now
    Decay you are both right in part, a shop can get fined for displaying sels with the wrong price or information on them, but it is not against the law for them to refuse to sell it at the lower price to the customer. So ts do not run dtd for this reason, they do it as they want everyone to belive they dont make mistakes or more often than not that people wont check if they have been charged right.

    Ok, just a quick post from me. It gets more ridiculous by the minute. To summarise HO call back, can't tell me what I've done wrong, store ban whilst they investigate insider trading, I purchased something only the staff would know was reduced, but can't tell me what. Isn't authorised to obtain details from store!! Store have sent letter to me and will investigate, I can write back if I wish. They have informed other stores, who will make their own descision on if they ban, but can't tell me which ones or what their descision is. Can't provide police ref, only store privvy to this info!!!??? am now left with waiting a call back from store to explain themselves :mad:

    Once they tell me the item they are reffering to, I may just send them a couple of links (not from here) to show them that is the biggest load of ......., insider trading my backside :mad:

    Do you have the receipt of your shopping??
    can you look and see if you bought anything out of the ordinary apart from the 1p items??
    I wonder if they are trying to catch up with members of staff rather than member's of the public, but obviously not able to do so without involving the public..... Take no notice of me, Im just waffling on about something and nothing...
    Do you know anyone who works there? have they seen you talking to a member of staff??

    6 x AIRWICK REED DIFFUSER PINK SWEET PEA £ 39.00 £ 24.00 (plus I got DTD for these!!!!!!!!)

    thanks so much Bestie - I saw some of these in another store last night so just popped back as i knew where they were. The £4 offer ones seem to be in a green cardboard Airwick bin at the end of an aisle (mine was at the end of the freezer aisle). Had to nudge CS to give me DTD as she only wanted to give me £15 back:eek:
    So I'm about to put my pricecheck in now. Cheers ears.

    1. Do Ts even understand what insider trading is?
    2. So it's ok for staff to know and purchase 1p items but not the public?

    I've been denied 1p items in the past with many pathetic excuses but the corker was "we'll get sacked if we sell 1p items". Just a couple of weeks ago I was trouted on the 38p Cars pencil case and 2p Bandz. The CO manager simply said if that's what Ts want to charge then who is she to argue.

    Honest to god, they really are a bunch of muppets.
