    I agree, FK, that the "wave breaking" is very dangerous, it drives me nuts, though again, unlikely to be much of a problem when it's quiet. I agree when it's busy things flow much better when everyone follows the speed limit, but I felt one of the responses to celebrate was a bit OTT in the circumstances and wanted to give a different perspective.

    My best friend's dad died because he was hit by a car that went over the speed limit. :(:(He was a roadworks engineer and he was on the edge of a lane which was cordoned off. The driver of the car that hit him told the court that he was in a hurry to work, and that the road wasnt busy.

    IMHO, speed limits are there for a reason and should be adhered to irregardless of whether the road is busy or not.

    I couldn't believe it last night. In my local T's they are selling flour, milk and eggs. For crying out loud, pancake day is another eleven months away.

    I don't even know any t's employees :rotfl:which is why I asked her to explain herself, which she refused to do.
    I quite agree about the bullying Lutzi. But they refused to discuss the police thing and just hung up.
    They also addressed me by my first name :mad:
    I know exactly which manager it is, and store is not that local, so not easy to just pop back. It is one of Nerfdads locals.

    He/she has obviously just taken it upon themselves to make up a load of baloney purely to intimidate you in to not doing it again. Horrendous! I would be expecting a huge apology & if I didnt get one a letter to chief exec would be sent.
    Dont get upset over it, its one persons ludicrous actions. You have a right to be angry, but have faith that they will sort it out before making your next move. Slowly slowly catch a monkey!

    I would improve communication systems and ensure staff are doing their jobs - not ban customers from shopping

    think you missed my point, the FRS is to stop shoplifters, but can be used to identify other's who a deemed " unwanted customers".

  • Hi all! Just managed to catch up from last night and it's taken ages lol!

    Thanks to FK for the advice re whoopsying! It was, unfortunately of no use as I turned up for 8 and was way too early! Would have stayed past 9 to see if that was the time but OH was waiting for me to get back so we could eat dinner. Think I may try tonight after dinner and aim for 9ish? V frustrating as was all pumped up to try and nothing! I guess once you know the times for particular stores you're all right - unless they change times daily.

    Managed to pop into a different store this morning and managed to come away with a £1 shirt and tie set for my dad and a box of Christmas Spirits. When I went to SS I hadn't noticed that the Spirits had a reduced label saying 50p on them. Hadn't bothered to scan myself as so many have had for 1p and kids were getting a bit fed up! Anyway, it alerted the SA as it came up as too expensive! Thought he would override it and put it through at 50p which I wasn't so keen on them for, but the lovely lad peeled off the sticker and typed in the number and hey presto - 1p! He was quite happy to let me have them.

    Poor Fudge2, u must be feeling really stressed by that stupid phonecall. It is utterly ridiculous that one store is happy to let someone buy 1p items yet another considers it a banning offence! Unbelievable. I can't see how the store can come out on top for this one but I know how awful it would make me feel so I feel really bad for you x

    Interesting conversation I had with Consumer Direct recently- the advisor informed me that the price marked on the shelf is just a guide as to what price the item MIGHT be, the actual price is the price you pay at the till.
    I was surprised- doesn't this effectively mean there is no way for the average customer to know the price of an item before they buy it??

    I'm pretty sure that's wrong
    The Consumer Protection Act 1987 says it is a criminal offence for a trader to display misleading price indications. If prosecuted, a company can face a maximum fine of £5,000 for each individual offence.

    A price indication is misleading if it conveys, or if consumers might reasonably be expected to infer, that (s.21):
    • The price is less than in fact it is;
    • The applicability of the price does not depend on facts or circumstances on which its applicability does in fact depend;
    • The price covers matters in respect of which an additional charge is in fact made;
    • Some person, who in fact has no such expectation, expects the price to be:
      • Increased or reduced, whether or not at a particular time or by a particular amount; or
      • Maintained, whether or not for a particular period; or
    • The facts or circumstances by reference to which the consumers might reasonably be expected to judge the validity of any relevant comparison made or implied by the indication are not what in fact they are.
    That's why Tesco give dtd
    :(

    Ahh I was just musing that the other "unwanted customers" probably wouldn't arise if their systems didn't mess up and people did their jobs right - surely it can't be that difficult. Saying that I think we are all quite pleased that they don't get it right some of the time :)
