I quite agree about the bullying Lutzi. But they refused to discuss the police thing and just hung up.
They also addressed me by my first name
I know exactly which manager it is, and store is not that local, so not easy to just pop back. It is one of Nerfdads locals.

To be honest, I'd try and deal with it through Head Office, not go back to the store. By the sound of it you're more likely to get a rational response, and who knows what they'll accuse you of next if you do go back?
    Hope is not a strategy.

Good point, have you checked the name of person with the store. You would not have to give any other details.

Unfortunately, no hoax. I know the manager who rang and they called from the right area code (I don't know anyone there). They called my mobile, no landline. At first I ignored the first 2 calls as I thought they were PPI cold calls. Eventually decided to answer the 3rd time, planning to give them a bit of earache and got met with this instead :mad:

I have just been phoned by the tesco I visited last night, on the pretence of asking if i've lost my clubcard!!
They then told me I am banned from all tesco stores and they have circulated my photograph :eek::eek: and contacted the police :eek::eek:
I asked her to explain herself and she said that I purchased 1p chocolates with insider information :eek: and went into the store 3 times (it was 2), that I had a list (I did not) and I was on camera and they had contacted the police :eek::eek:

When I asked her waht she thought was a police matter and what she meant by insider information, she wouldn't answer, so I kept asking till she just hung up :eek::eek:
I got her name and have contacted HO, they phoned the store and no answer, so they are e-mailing the manager and calling me back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't you just love store managers, they think they can make up the rules. Only HO could ban you from ALL the stores.

I'd be phoning HO and ask them if they would like you to hand yourself into the police for purchasing items at the price the till asked you to. :rotfl:

And after HO ring you to apologise i'd be making a special journey back to the store :D
    :(

  • Can't believe they banned you. Surely it's as simple as if they have things on the shelves they are for sale! Instead of banning the customer it should be the staff getting sacked for incompetence if items not for sale are out on the shelves. Bloody idiots!!!!
  • Oh, and no 1p items in L*ncoln this morning if anyone else is from around here.

Hope everyone is having a brilliant, bargain filled day. Been lurking for the last couple of days as DD has been ill. However, saw the post by Fudge2 and can't believe it.

Tesco must be the most unprofessional company I have ever come across. Not only is their approach to customer service appalling but the stores are dis-organised, cold, unfriendly and badly run (especially when it comes to the busiest time of the day and you need to pay for your shopping).

Have you given them model sign off for the picture of you they are currently circulating :rotfl:

As someone has mentioned, if they have contacted the police, then maybe they would be kind enough to give you the crime reference number.

So you purchased 1p chocolates, are they saying that customers are breaking the law if they purchase reduced to clear items that are on the shop floor? If that is the case, perhaps Tesco would be kind enough to include a notice on the shelves with these type of items in future, stating that customers are breaking the law if they purchase them.

Given that some stores are happy for 1p items to go through manned tills, does this mean that Tescos are actively encouraging customers to break the law .

As previously mentioned, perhaps all staff should be issued with a copy of the article, wherein a Tesco spokesperson states that they are happy for 1p items to be purchased.

As for purchasing with inside knowledge, since when did Tesco own or run MSE ;). Given that simply Googling Tesco will display plenty of cheap items/bargains that can be purchased from them, do they also own and run Google? I would love to know where they think you got this inside information from. What's more, if you were being given inside information, why on earth do they think you spend so much time using the instore scanners?

So you went into the store with a list. OMG, does that mean I can't use a shopping list any more. This is getting ridiculousness, pictures can't be taken inside the store; customers are not allowed to look at SELs; customers are not allowed to use lists while shopping; customers are not allowed to purchase items reduced to clear. All we need now is notification that customers are not allowed to enter the store.

 fudge2, prep. your case and hit the morons hard.

Perhaps Tesco should review their plans for store revamps and look at investing their money in paying staff a living wage (thereby increasing the quality of the employees) and on customer relations and customer service training.

 Not sure how it can work in my favour?
Have called HO again and they are chasing up the first person I spoke to. They said just go about your normal day and we'll call you back. I told them I was planning to go to t's to get some shopping, so can't go about my day now :rotfl:

I will ring the police if no luck from HO, but different police force to where I live. Just annoys me that now I have to stay in till all this is sorted and was planning to fleece WHSmiths some more today, to get a b'day card for my sisters b'day, and will now have to wait until this is sorted before I can go and give her, her pressies :(
