Will she be fired?

Going to jail is a bit harsh for taking a few quid for bus fare-she hasnt robbed a bank or swindled the company out of millions. The issue for your "friend" is the lying when confronted and if she is working somewhere where integrity is valued then she has proven herself to be a liar.
The places where I have worked this would have been a dismissal through the lack of integrity issue. Trust has broken down and they wont believe a word she says again. Also if they keep her how embarrassing for her to be a proven theif.People will also be saying all kind of things about her. I would resign and look for another job, hopefully with a reference that doesnt say anything about the theft.0 -
I think your friend should call ACAS and get in touch with the local CAB for some support. I also think serious consideration needs to be made about running the syndicate or even being involved with it. final suggestion is to start looking for another job and to possibly resign even if needing to leave before finding other employment. this does not sound like a good place to work ....
BUT defo go to ACAS and CAB for advice and support.Blah0 -

Thanks, already looking for another job if needed x0 -

Thanks, no need for the commas, it is a friend, I'm lucky enough to not be in this situation but often ask questions on here for friends and family as I value all your advice x0 -
wow that's an expensive bus!!!!kitkatt1982 wrote: »She took £8 x0 -
OP hopefully your friend's immediate manager will champion for her and that will be taken into account.
Fingers crossed she doesn't lose her job. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Jeez O'..The girl borrowed money to get a bus ! Big deal...Yeah she should have put an IOU or something to let the others know she would repay it and she should have came clean straight away when questioned by her boss.
But she didn't for whatever reason.....nerves...embarrassed.....the list goes on......
And people on here saying she should resign before being sacked/police involvement/jail etc..... Get a grip.
If police were called about that hopefully someone normal and on planet earth would apply common sense....for whatever she took for the bus and explained she intended to repay it. Maybe a ticking off max !!!
Obviously her colleagues don't like her, why didn't they just say...did you take money from the lottery fund? if so why? before going running to a boss.
I am not saying what she did or said/didn't say was right...but she hasn't exactly killed someone and I doubt she will get the sack for a few quid for the bus !!!:eek::eek:
BTW if her so called colleagues think she's a thief ? Can they prove she had NO intention of actually putting the "Serve a life sentence" bus money back ?
this is the kind of common sense approach that one would hope would be taken.
Sadly, as I said to my colleague earlier today on a totally unrelated matter, common sense is not actually that common.0
