I think that you are onto the central issue. OP's friend was entrusted with money to buy lottery tickets. There can only be a breach of trust if lottery tickets are not bought to the agreed schedule. To take it beyond that point and allege breach of trust for taking money from the pot, it would be necessary to show that the trust extended beyond buying the scheduled lottery tickets to managing the cash in a particular way.burnoutbabe wrote: »how did the other lottery syndicate members know money was missing? was the "tin" just sat around for anyone to help themselves?
where i did it, it was done online and i paid for it by card and people gave me cash or transferred money online. So of course I could spend the cash i had from them, before buying tickets, I didn't have to use those exact notes to pay for the tickets.
When the manager first questioned her, she should have told him to butt out, as the lottery was nothing to do with the employer. Even now I think she may have some justification to claim that she had no duty to tell the manager the truth or anything at all, particularly if the scheduled tickets were actually purchased.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. any news yet OP??
have been following and hope it all turns out ok for your friend.
i pay into my lotto syndicate months in advance i.e. just hand over £20 until it runs out.
i couldnt care less what my colleague does with my £20 - as long as all lines on our syndicate are purchased each week.
there are a lot of the syndicate members who dont pay for weeks and then clear their arrears - surely my upfront money is paying their stake? does this mean they are stealing from me???
its all a bit petty if you ask me
as for the lying - when placed suddenly in a hole - most people will try to dig themselves out of it.0 -
If people arent paying and using your stake, what do you have in your contract? If they are using your money to pay then you have more than one line and more than one share of the winnings if you win.any news yet OP??

In my old one, if you don't pay, you aren't in it.0 -
Because it happened at work !
I was subjected to a disciplinary process at work for Serious/Gross Misconduct for alleged sexual harassment of a female colleague via the internet AT HOME.
They decided to allow the complaint to be investigated because we met at work.
(I was cleared of the allegations in the end). Why is the employer getting involved in an undertaking which is entirely private in nature?
Surely this is a matter for syndicate members to resolve.0 -
Can't believe something like that would happen... I mean seriously why did they not just ask the OPs friend first? So silly. There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well...0

I would imagine that the lady has now been formally cautioned, lined up and shot by firing squad for this serious misdemeanour.
Failing that, maybe, just maybe, common sense has prevailed and the issue has fallen into the ether.................0 -
OP can you give an update please as it may help othersIt's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0
