TurnAroundSue - I think you should get the pot. You'll probably regret it if you don't
I am so chuffed with myself today - I am going to push in and go to the top of the queue :rotfl: :rotfl:
1) I applied for free Leisuretime membership for a month and as a thank you to me they said I could have £80 worth of petrol vouchers. Well just realised I haven't had them, so phoned them up today and said opps! sorry, will put them in the post - hurrah! - so this is where my cunning plan comes in: I have already put my petrol allowance onto my tesco cc in lieu of me spending on petrol, so now I will soon have this £80 petrol voucher for my petrol, I am £80 better off on my cc which allows me to buy the pot that I so desperately want - how is that for initiative (and I wont be jumping through any loopholes) - but wont order it UNTIL I have received the vouchers - just to be on the safe side
2) Friends were going to local pub for tea - only £3 per meal and asked if I was coming and said 'no thank you' and came home. Am now cooking a lovely tea of fish, mini jacket potatoes and salad - saving £9 on meals plus any drinks I would have needed - :j :jWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
Brilliant news Sue, I'm so pleased that it worked out so neatly. You were obviously meant to get that pot.
No spend for me and I'm very happy as I received a large cheque this morning and paid it all off my number one debt.
I'm now extra determined not to spend anything for the rest of Lent as my main current account is near its overdraft limit and I don't want to spend a penny more than I have to.

Well done TurnaroundSue :T
Waiting that extra day or so certainly paid off and congrats on the pub refusal
I can definitely relate to the chocolate craving which is why I will be baking tomorrow hoping to quell the craving with a chocolate cake as I have the ingredients already. :EasterBun
NSD for me again (must update sig) :rotfl: This has mostly been due to the fact that I've been ill so next week will be the real test but I did go to the shop today for bread and ta da just got bread :rotfl:MFiT Member No 85

Todays spend was 44p on postage for something someone bought off me, so they'd already paid the postage. Plus grocery shopping where we stuck 100% to the list, and bought nearly everything for march, and spent just over 2 weeks worth of budget
I have a need for cake, but I'm just going to do some baking at the weekend as I have plenty of flour etc.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -

Hello dear, in my head if you have previously, honestly budgeted before ie pre lent then ok
It's al about the inessentials like coffees & candles & chocolate.0 -
giving up money for lent is a great idea.Well done.
Can we give it up for longer?
i think that making a quality decision is what i need- it seems that necessity is the mother of invention. i mean, alot of very useful money savers came to my attention when i've done this before. if the hoover breaks, use a dustpan and brush. Femine necessities- saved hundreds this past year already when i realised my frugal sisters had a cheaper (environmentally friendly) alternative to the usual shop bought variety.
Maybe you mean chocolate, that is a feminine necessity!!0 -
Hi all and welcome Suzie and Millie
Suzie, I think we have all got our own rules about what is allowed - but remember this is a challenge for hardcore moneysavers!
Another no spend day for me - well I bought a book on Amazon for my mum but she will pay me back.
I also reclaimed 10p of my children's pocket money by picking up loose change in their bedrooms.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Nothing spent today. My old habits are starting to stop now! Topped up petrol and didnt even think to buy a drink/chocolate which i normally did. And i got my first £2 coin in ages! we only tend to have them on this island when the tourists are here, it went straight in my terrimundi (bad spelling opps!)0
