kiwi88, I agree with Shirley - a prescription has to be a necessity. But do check you couldnt buy the same thing for less than the prescription cost. Ask the chemist - there may be a generic version you can buy off the shelf.

ShirleyPark, I was fascinated to hear about the luncheon vouchers. I didn't know they still existed! My dad used to get these as a perk of his job (this was 30-something years ago). He gave them to my mum, and when enough had accumulated she used to take us out to the local cafe for lunch. I well remember the thrill of eating a ham salad roll!

The training centre that we use for training is in central london and it doesn't have resturant facilities so I guess that's an easy way for them to deal with providing lunch. I was surprised the first time I got them there as I'd not seen them for ages. If I use them in the supermarkets around here the cashiers often look at them oddly like they've never seen them before.

  • Luncheon vouchers, that takes me back. :p I remember being a very green 17 year old check out chick and telling a customer I'd never seen one before when she was paying for her shopping with them. I knew we were allowed to take them because of the sticker on the till, but that was about it. I asked her what it was and she said 'I get them from work'... Which totally solved that mystery, I don't think.

    Hiya
I've paid another £30 off my debt thanks to this thread. Went out on a pre-planned night out where you can buy different beauty products (through my children's school). DH had said treat yourself for mother's day but I couldn't do it as, firstly, I have a cupboard full of stuff i've never used (though this wouldn't have stopped me in the past) and i'd have had to fessed up to you lot!!!! So i've paid it off a credit card instead. Did it straight away online so thanks for this thread!

6 no spends days for for - yippee!!! :j

But I am in a bit of a quandry - my dad passed away 7 years ago this May and I have always promised myself that one day I would plant a tree/buy a specific plant for my garden - as he was cremated and so nowhere really to visit (sorry to be so morbid at this time of the morning). Anyway for xmas I bought my mum a lovely personalised pot with an inscription on it as a rememberance thing for my dad. They have now e-mailed me (and this is were my quandry lies) and said they are closing down and all orders need to be in by 31/3/07! Now I would like one of these pots for my own garden with some subscription on as a rememberance to my dad, but it would cost around £75 and I haven't allowed for it in the budget, so would REALLY be breaking my no money for lent challenge - but I really would like one of these pots for my dad - what do I do?

    Any offers/advice/tips gratefully received

Was thinking about my earlier qundry (see above) and wondered if I ordered it with my credit card and then budgeted next month before the bill came in and then paid the bill in full - would this be allowed? :rotfl: :rotfl:

When does the bill have to be paid because if it's after the challenge and you're going to pay it off in full it sounds like a possibility

Actually that's a pretty big loophole in our challenge don't all rush to the shops now :rotfl:
