Hello everyone
We had our Renewal letter sent out last week - it's £164 Joint Policy,
Roadside, Recovery and at Home.
Last Year it was £133, so a £31 increase!
Can anyone advise me how to cancel and use Tesco Vouchers, I only have £11 though.
Or alternatively can you suggest a good alternative eg. AA we could use with equivalent cover?
Many thanks in advance. :A

If you look at the wording of your RAC renewal letter, it states that if you wish to use Tesco ClubCard Deals to pay for your subscription, by all means, go ahead and do so.
The procedure's straightforward: tick whichever service option you wish to 'buy' on the ClubCard deals website, input the voucher numbers to cover whatever the cost might be -- they're worth four times the value shown, so £10 in vouchers buys £40s worth of product -- and Tesco will then (within 48 hours) send you the subscription form, duly authorised.
If you're an existing RAC member, you simply write in your membership number on the Tesco form and that's it. Just post it off to the RAC and the job's done.
However. . . With only £11 in Tesco "funds", I don't know what level of RAC cover you're going to obtain: pretty minimal, I'd have thought. Sorry.0 -
Britannia Rescue offer a good package - approx £80 for self and spouse, any car/motorhome more than 0.5 miles from home. Additional services are available at higher cost. You need to be a CSMA member to qualify - not difficult given the size of our Civil Service.0

I too am interested in finding out about IC Breakdown as they cover vans which AA & RAC don't.0

Regarding the RAC - Very disappointed, I checked my account the weekend and saw that £36 was taken out from the RAC! Obviously for my renewal, but i had no letter, so no choice!!! And the fact that i don't want it as i had 2 years free AA left when i purchased my car last year (4 months after joining the RAC). Has anyone else had this, surely they must have to send a letter out??0

Hi deefadog, just searched to see if this had happened to anyone else. I too have just checked my online banking to find that the RAC have taken the money without giving me the option or anything, i now no longer even have a car so don't need the breakdown cover.
I am phoning them up first thing tomorrow to complain as i never received a letter or anything about it and i think this is bang out of order, that money could have been needed to pay off other bills.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Just an update, my partner pointed out to me that in the terms of the handbook, it states that you have to give verbal or written consent for them, when signing up, to agree to them keeping your details and taking the money next time, without a need to notify you.
Not very pleased about it, but can see where they are coming from.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Shocking bunch of cowboys, come on you may have agreed to it initially, but how many people ever use it and forget like me, must be hundreds of thousands!
Ok, if i got a letter like i do with insurance saying, you renewal is due next month, if you which to cancel please.....
I have not had a chance to phone them yet, but will tonight!0 -
but how many people ever use it and forget like me, must be hundreds of thousands!
Well you could argue that the above is a PLUS point, but I know where people are coming from.
It's beoming very comon these days, so best bet is to put all your renewal dates in a spreadsheet (or PDA or diary or tool of your choice) and review about 1 month beforehand.
I personally find it easier to have then in a spreadsheet as they are all together rather than scattered through a diary, but the important thing is you have some kind of "system" that works for you.0 -
yes good point, i normally add these to my gmail calender get set an email reminder up 1 month prior - looks like this time i forgot!
No i have to find out when my aa cover finishes, as one month after i took the rac cover out i bought a one year old car that came with free AA, now i can't remember if it is for one year or for the 3 years warranty period (anyone know)
EDIT - Ok, i am still with the AA for another year and had no problem canceling with RAC
