Can anyone please help me, i had a morgage and loans with leeds permanent buliding society but it no longer exists, i though it was part of the halifax building society whom i am still with but after enquiring they said they couldnt help, me, i dont no who to contact now to find out if i had ppi.
Look at your bank statements. One of the reasons most MPPi complaints fail is the reason most MPPI is standalone and paid by direct debit from your current account. It isnt bundled into the mortgage.
leeds permanent buliding society merged into Halifax in 1995. So, you are going back a very very long time. It is unlikely much, if any, documentation still exists from back then. If you dont believe the Halifax, then you can spend £10 and do a data subject access request.
Also, if the mortgage was bought via a broker, then forget it now and dont waste your time and money.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi all,
Amidst all the PPI malarky I suddenly remembered that Barclays charged me £5 or so per month to have an overdraft for about 5 years. I believe it was called Student Additions or Graduate Additions. This was on top of any interest owed per month. It was like renting money.
In the PPI section, Martin alluded to Barclays charging (wrongly) fees for overdrafts.
However, i've been unable to find any more information.
Has anyone looked at this before? Was it an unlawful charge? And can you advise whether it's something I can look at getting refunded?
Cheers

Its taken over two years but finally our case has been sorted fro refund and interest of our PPI.We won our case via the ombudsman and the financial company was given a strict deadline to pay us which has been and gone.neither ourselves or the ombudsman's office is having any joy with getting them to pay up and the finance company just keeps lying and stalling by saying they have sent payment when they haven't !!
What form do we need from the courts to enforce the Order?
Thanks so much0 -
Hi,
It is actually enforceable through the courts, see below from info the ombudsman sent us:
"how is an ombudsman decision
enforceable in court?
Parliament did not give the ombudsman
enforcement powers – that is not our job.
Instead, Parliament made legal provision for
consumers to be able to enforce our
decisions in court in the unlikely event that
this becomes necessary.
Enforcing an ombudsman’s decision in court
should not mean having to argue the merits
of the case again. The process is similar to
enforcing a judgement where a case has
been heard in court. We can provide more
information about the enforcement process
if necessary."
Our case went to final ombudsman decision and is as the letter we received states this ruling is legally binding on the finance company.
So I keen to find out the form number we need so I can get it rolling

I have no idea what "form" you'd use, sounds to me like something only to be done as a last resort. Have you threatened the company concerned with court action? That will normally be enough to get them moving as they'd and up paying court costs too…JewelAddis wrote: »It is actually enforceable through the courts, see below from info the ombudsman sent us:0 -
Hi,
I arranged a loan with Swift Advances 7 years ago and have just finished paying it off.
I asked a PPI company to look into claiming back the PPI for me but they came back to me saying that Swift had said that as I signed up via a Broker I need to contact them. I took the loan out with an ex-partner and I don't have the original agreement and don't even know who the broker was! I was told at the time that due to the size of the loan I had to have PPI - there was no option.
Can I pursue this claim or how do I go about finding out who the broker was? Surely Swift would have paperwork confirming the agreement I had with the broker?
Hope you can help!0 -

Hi
I have just joined to make this post im desperate for some help but so far having no joy...
I was sold a personal loan through a broker in 2007, I have spoken to the loan company today and they confirm I paid over £1000 in a single premium on this loan, but as it was sold to me by a broker I am unable to claim from these....to add to this the broker has now retired!
Can anybody give me any advice on what to do next, this £1000 plus interest would come in extremely handy after Christmas!!
Yours hopefully!!0 -

You complain to the broker. if he was self employed or a partnership then he retains liability for life. If limited company and the company is still trading then they have liability. if it has ceased (you can check companies house) then you complain to the FSCS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had a card with Robert Fleming Save & Prosper, I am pretty sure that it had PPI attached. I wrote to them and they state that they never sold PPI, however I think the firm sold the card business to MBNA and they were the ones that added PPI.
Should I write to MBNA? did they actually take over the business?
Did S&P really not sell PPI?
