Just the other day I was sorting out some old papers and came across a few credit card statements from Citi (I believe they have now been taken over by someone else) going back to around 2001/2002, which showed PPI charges. Going this far back, I have absolutely no recollection of whether the policy was explained properly to me or anything - can I still claim? Also, how can I determine the amount I paid over the years, with just a few statements?
Thanks in advance!0 -
You can complain if it wasmissold yes, and to get records, if you want to see how much you paid [although you only need the CC number to complain and the bank will not necessarily have kept all the info] you send a SAR and £10 to them to see what they have left - see the front page sticky for a template

Hi, can someone pls help? I put in my ombudsman form by post on Wednesday and today I received a reply from Barclays. I thought this was just a little too quick for them to come to a decision and I am not happy with what they have offered me. I answered honestly to the health questions as I am registered disabled and I am wondering if this has affected their decision!!!!! Can anyone help?

Quick decisions tend to be auto payouts with no investigation. However, they also tend to be a refund of premiums plus interest in the same way an upheld complaint would be as well.
Answering the questions honestly would not affect the amount paid out.
Why do you think the refund of premiums (that can be proven to be paid) plus interest is wrong? Or is it something different to that? (there are some other calculation methods allowed depending on the reasons).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Easiest answer is yes, you can go back more than 6 years. My most recent claim goes back 8 years and I'm being paid out.0

The much trumpeted "huge new FAQ" on here about PPI claims plainly hasn't answered a lot of people's questions reading this forum.
Specifically where the suspected PPI misselling is over 6 years ago - I strongly suspect I myself took out a loan through barclays with PPI about 15 years ago.
Can we have the FAQ updated to reflect this fundamental question?
What are our chances where loans and the like were over 6 years ago?
Yes - my first claim was on an account 8 years ago - so go for it.0 -
Ok here's a scenario.
A loan was taken out with a creditor and was sold on basis the loan would only be agreed if ppi was included. (Miss sold).
After payment difficulty, a debt management plan had been set up with CCCS. Regular payments had been made, keeping to that agreement.
The loan company then sold the debt on.
A ppi claim has been made with the original lender and has been successful. They are paying out.
I have a number of creditors, so, who gets what of the PPI payout? Is it pro rata? Does the company where the debt was sold on get first dibs? Could the payout be used to offer between creditors to go for a full and final settlement?
The payout is coming direct to me, hence I have a decision to make and don't want to fall foul, as all creditors see cash and want a bit so they will tell me in equal measure they have rights to it.
Your thoughts please?0 -

Financial Ombudsman has had my claim for several months but still saying several more months for claim to be settled. We are on low income and really need this money - FO has upheld our claim but Bank disputing (again) - what can I do to hurry this up > FO not being very helpful

You can do nothing except tell the FOS you are suffering financial hardship. There is a section on their website regarding this.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
