I took out a loan with RBS around 3 years ago and have since had a look at the documents i had for my load agreement. While i couldn't see anything on there referencing PPI in any way (or payment protection etc), there wasn't much info on the documents i had. I sent off the std letter from the MSE website and eventually RBS came back to me saying they coulodn't find my loan agreement.

While i was adivised that this doesn't mean my loan is void or anything, where does this leave me regarding PPI?

    Thanks

    Jonathan
  • Any thoughts on my query above - re: who to approach if company that sold me PPI is dormant?
  • I took an endowment mortgage out in 1984, this finished in 2009,
I also took out a small endowment mortgage out in 1987 this will finish in July 2012
Would either of these two mortgages have PPI attached to them.

    Possibly. Possibly not.

    1 - does it matter?
2 - what was wrong (i.e. what would your complaint be)
3 - what evidence do you have to support your allegations?

  • I need help.
We were made to take out a Life Cover when buying a piece of machinery- is this the same as PPI? We didn't have an option we had to take the Life Cover eventhough we already had an other Life Cover in place. Can we claim?
Also the bank made us take out a Business Loan Repayment Insurance- again we were not given an option. Can we claim?
Finally looking at our Credit cards there isn't a monthly PPI charge however reading the t&c the charges include PPI- so if I call the credit card companies will they confirm whether or not we are paying PPI?
    Please help. Many thanks.
  • Hi, I've contacted MBNA twice regarding the PPI for my loan. Their first response was for an ex credit card I had. No help. And the second response bluntly stated that under section 77(3), section 77(1) doesn't apply as my account is settled. The loan was from 2002 to 2007.

What do I do now? what is section 77(3)? do I give up?
  • hi,

i was mi-sold ppi back in june 2004. I tried claiming it back but found the company had gone bust. I then followed the route of writing to FSCS who have informed that because the now dissolved finance company did not become FSA regulated until jan 2005 there is nothing i can do to reclaim the mis sold ppi.
The whole lump sum of the PPI was added to my loan and i was told it was compulsary with the loan i was looking at.

am i really to accept that i have lost my cash?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. Life assurance is long term assurance issued by life assurance companies. PPI is short term insurance issued by general insurance companies.

If this is a business, then banks frequently ask for life assurance as a form of security. This is allowed and wouldnt be a mis-sale.

BLRI is a form of PPI but designed with self employed, directors etc in mind.

PPI would be a transaction that is identifiable on the statement if you had it. However, if you are unable to understand your statement to verify this then give them a call and ask.

The method you are using does not apply to closed accounts.

What exactly are you after? You dont need the agreement to make a complaint.
