I took out a loan with Anglian Home Improvements who used GE Money back in January 2000. I was paying PPI on my loan. Anglian reckon the sale of general insurance did not come under the remit of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) until the 14th January 2005. Anglian also reckon that they were not a member of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) or the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) and were consequently not bound by their codes of practice.
I just want to reclaim my PPI payments with interest. Is this still possible ?0 -

You can forward your complaint to GE Money, but they don't have to consider your complaint either.

Hi
I had a couple of finance agreements a few years ago where the lender accepted a negotiated partial settlement on the arrears and the debt was classed as settled. Both of these agreements had PPI. If I claim for PPI, can the lenders apply any payout to make up the shortfall of the partial settlements even though the lender agreed to previously accept the settlement figures?0 -

Lenders are allowed to offset any redress against arrears, defaults and amounts written off as part of an agreed settlement.
So, yes, they can but only against that particular debt. i.e. if you had 4 loans over a period that were not linked and one defaulted and had a reduced settlement agreed, then they can only use the PPI redress on that one against the amount written off. If the debts were linked (chain of loans where one paid off the other) then they can use each one against the final debt that was written off.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You cant have PPI on an endowment. The mortgage was a possibility but you are looking at very early days of PPI. Plus, most MPPI complaints fail. Especially ones from that era as back then, the social security benefits were very low.
If you used a broker, then its 20 years before regulation. If you used a bank you can try but dont expect much.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You can make your complaint on it regardless of how long ago it was. The only issue with time is that documentation does get destroyed the further back you go. So, it can be an issue but you wont know unless you make the complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
