Your first issue was not referring to the FOS in 6 months so they can time-bar you.
No, the OP can still refer the review because that was issued only a few days ago.
  • Do I need to cancel my PPI to make a mis sold claim?

If you complain about not wanting the PPI it will be cancelled immediately - you can't say you want a refund of PPI and still keep it

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Even though the first complaint was out of the 6 months to refer and the bank chose to re-open it voluntarily?

Yes, it's classed as a new complaint for FOS purposes.

(Doesn't mean FOS will uphold any such complaint, of course)

    This is not the case.

My PPI was refunded, but I had to subsequently cancel the policy myself.

Up til recently I had thought that any PPI claim must be for policies sold in the last 10 years but Martin seemed to suggest that you could claim back any date as long as you can find backing paperwork? Is that correct please?

In 1992 we took out a £40k mortgage with Abbey national which was cleared a couple of years ago. Now I distinctly remember suddenly realising the insurance policy they sold us at the same time for sickness and unemployment was useless for us as my OH was self employed. This was only some years after we had been paying it out. I wrote to them explaining I wanted to cancel the policy because my OH would not benefit as a self employed person.

So, would I, if I can find the original paperwork which hopefully is stuffed in my files with the deeds etc., be able to put in a claim for all the premiums we had paid up to the cancellation please?

You can make a complaint about any product you like if you have grounds for complaint. Time is not an issue in most cases apart from the fact that the further time goes by, the less likely there will be documentation held by you or the firm you are complaining about.

No wrong doing there. Self employed is covered by MPPI.

You have to be complaining about a wrongdoing. Self employment can be an issue with some types of credit card PPI or loan PPI but its rarely an issue with MPPI. By all means ask them but it should be a very easy complaint for them to defend.

  • I obtained a car loan from NAAFI Financial Services when posted to Germany in the early 1990's, but when trying to locate any contact details for the above in order to submit a PPI claim I am unable to find any verifiable details to use to reclaim the PPI I paid on the loan over 5 years.

Can anyone confirm whether they have made any PPI claims with NAAFI and whether they have had any success? Any contact details to use would be most appreciated.
