Help re Anglian Windows/ CGU insurance/ GE Money

Thank you for any advice you can offer. We took out a loan for double glazing in 2001 for a period of 10 years. This finished just a couple of months ago and hubby came across the paperwork yesterday with guess what PPI added - we had absolutely no idea that it was on. I
The double glazing was purchased through Anglian Windows - a representative came to the house. He quoted us a figute of £90pm over 120 months, but at no time mentioned PPI. On the paperwork we came across today, it seemed to be added in and would appear to have only covered my husband and for a period of 5 years. I know it seems naive that we never picked up on it.
My question is - who do we write to? Anglian sold us the windows, First National ( now part of GE Money ) was the lender and seems to be CGU insurance ( now AVIVA) that was the underwriter.
I should add that both my husband and myself have always been in full time emplyment, me with the NHS and him with the council, so both entitled to 6 months full and 6 months half pay with a full redundancy package should that ever happen. Even if we had known about it, it was never required. The other odd thing is that we had a plan for doors with the same company 6 months later, but no PPI added to that!
Many thanks for any advice you can offer.

Keep a copy of your letter and get proof of posting (free from the Post Office)
Better still, fax it to 01603 422 635 - it is cheaper and you get an instant receipt.
(You will need the receipt/proof of posting if they do not reply).0 -
Many thanks for the reply. My only concern, is that I have found Anglian were not regulated by FSA until 2005 and would appear to wash their hands of any mis selling complaint. If I receive the rejection letter as expected, should I go to Aviva or raise my complaint or go straight to the Ombudsman?
Thank you, your advice is greatly appreciated.0 -
The address I gave is from the FSA register which shows that Anglian is directly regulated by the FSA and therefore any complaint about an earlier sale under the GISC code will also fall under FOS jurisdiction.
As Norwich Union (as Aviva was then) subscribed to the GISC code, it could only accept business from other firms that subscribed to it - so it follows that Anglian did (or you have ground for complaint against Aviva).
There is a small question of when you took the policy out because the GISC code commenced during the course of 2001.0 -
Thanks again, we took the loan out in July 2001 so not sure if that falls into the time frame for the GISC code?
Will get a letter done and faxed off and take it from there.0 -
I also had both windows and conservatory done by Anglian. Both had told me that I would be covered for the PPI even though I had my own company. This isn't the case. The conservatory loan was paid off early, but the windows carried on until a couple of years ago. Would I still be able to claim for both? The conservatory was done around 2003, the windows 2004...0

If you have reasons for mis sell then put the claim in.0

I have a similar claim regarding double glazing involving First National, CGU Underwriting and Aviva.
It was taken out in January 2001, the windows company was AGS Home Improvements who went into administration 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks after my letter to them! I have chased GE Money (Home Lending), who said contact the window company as they have no records. I have registered a complaint with Aviva who took on CGU's accounts and am waiting a decision or referral from them. 2 weeks to go.0
