    Hi

I had an Egg credit card in the mid 2000'5 (over 6 years ago). I have moved several times and have no paper work about my account - I do not know the account number :(

I have a couple of old emails from them regarding my statements, but the emails do not contain my account number.

Has anyone tried to get PPI info from them without these details? As I said I moved around quite a bit and the account was registered at a couple of address, which I do have.

Is it worth sending the SAR letter?

    Many thanks!

I had an egg card over 10 yrs ago, Barclays now own Egg, I used this tool from Which and was paid out in 6 weeks, followed by another cheque for a linked card £2300 in total.

I did have stand alone insurance to cover me if I was off work at the time.

    http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-to-reclaim-mis-sold-ppi

The tool allows you to put all your addresses in, no account numbers needed

I got confirmation, and a phone call from Barclaycard to go through it with them, then rec;d a letter saying they had miss sold PPI and a text telling me they have issued a cheque etc.

    good luck

Thank you for that tool. I have only been able to enter my current address though. Do you need to do separate claims for each of your previous addresses? My credit cards date back to my student days when I lived in various addresses.

Just complain direct to the lender including all pertinent information. While these "tools" can be useful, they can also unnecessarily delay the complaint process.

Well I've just another one for HSBC on there and listed two addresses, one after another, so I'm not sure why you couldn't.

I don't think it held my claim up, to get paid within 6 weeks of me sending the email through Which to getting a cheque is pretty good.

    good luck

I made a claim around 6 weeks ago, I had no details but submitted the complaint on the Canada Square Operations site (Egg trade as them now) I had a letter back quite quickly saying I had PPI and giving me my account numbers. I had notification of the second refund today, £4K in total.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an address for AA Finance? I had a loan with them in the early 00's and I want to see if I had PPI.

I took a loan out with the Midland Bank in 1988 to purchase an old coach house for my business storage purposes.
Unfortunately, i no longer have most of the documentation (agreement/bank statements), as these went to my accountant at the time for annual accounting purposes and he passed away many years ago and his business was taken over by another company, with me closing my company (but retaining the coach house), back in 1996.
I do have a letter of agreement from the bank dated 1988 and also some later statements showing amounts paid for 'Mortgage Protection', but not a complete set.
As this agreement and payments were from so long ago and as Midland Bank were taken over in 1992 by HSBC (but payments were still made on Midland Bank statements until they finished in 1996), with the Midland Bank name disappearing completely after 1999, is it feasable that i could make a claim to HSBC for repayment of PPI after all these years as well as the loan having being originally taken out in another banks name ?
I would welcome your thoughts please.
    Thanks in advance.
    John.

Mortgage protection is a term that also covers life assurance and is not necessarily PPI. Until the late 90s, banks required life assurance on secured borrowing. So, was it that?

If it is PPI and you have a valid reason for complaint and there is evidence it was taken out in 1988 and paid then you can complain. That said, PPI was not common in the 80s and you are looking at a period when life assurance was mandatory. So, it could be a product mix up.

  • Thanks for your response Dunstonh.

The money that I actually borrowed was termed a 'Loan' in the letter of agreement, but the payments in question are described in the bank statements of the day as 'Mortgage Protection'.

I'm not sure if the 'Loan' description makes any difference, but I will obviously have to look into the whole thing a little further and in the end I will just have to ask HSBC I suppose.

    Thanks again.

  • I believe I was mis-sold PPI through a company called Friends Provident this was done along with a first time buyer mortgage taken out at the same time. My question is do I write to the company Friends provident or the mortgage provider at the time? which was Abbey national I think? I just a bot confused in where to direct my claim to as the policy was sold to me through an independent financial advisor at the time.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
