  • Just seemed strange that is said the letter of the decision was sent on 21st and the cheque was sent 25th. Received cheque today but no decision letter

They are useless, give it a couple more days and then call the bank and ask them to send it again.

I am sure they told you on the call that you could have done it yourself using the free of charge complaints process, thus meaning you would have kept all the money?

I suspect, if you reflect, the amount of work you did for them so that they could post off the form (all they actually do) would have been better spent complaining yourself and keeping all the money - they took a lot of money for not a lot of work, (30% + 20% VAT) - so that £18,832.29 would have been a lot nicer if it had been £25,000 or so.

As ever, a warning to all - do not use CMCs, do it yourself for free

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Masqueron you're entitled to your opinion, yes we could have done it ourselves, but we are both in ill health, so for us it worked, they took all the pressure off us regarding form filling etc, this is money we had no clue about so ANY amount is such a bonus, this is life saving to us please try to understand, CMC s are a lifeline for some of us,we are absolutely over the moon with the outcome.

A simple letter to the bank would have done just the same. You even filled in the same Ombudsman form you would have filled in if you'd complained alone. You provided all the financial information and details of your complaint.

If they filled in the complaint form on your behalf then that is fraudulent. However, I doubt they did any such thing. You will have filled in the form for them to "look over" and post.

No, they are not. You could have had a further £7,000 if you had simply written directly to the Bank. The Claims company simply put a stamp on your completed complaint letter.

While I agree wholeheartedly that Claims Companies are an utter waste of money, your arithmetic leaves a lot to be desired.:)

The Op received £18, 832.29 which is the total redress repaid by the bank. The Claims Company took £6,779.72:eek: in commission and VAT leaving the OP with a grand total of £12,052.57.
At no time was the OP going to receive £25,000.

I think that £7K is an obscene amount to charge and, far from "doing" the OP proud, they have just "done" the OP.:(
    Robbers.

I see I misread the post and skipped over the bit where they said they could pay off 12k after they paid off the CMC! I thought they meant they got 18k AFTER the payment and thus paid off debt and still had 6k left:rotfl:

they took all the pressure off us regarding form filling etc,

How did they get the information to put on the form? You must have told them. So, all they did is write down what you told them on the easy to complete claims form. About 10 minutes admin in total. How can you consider that £6000 well spent for a simple bit of admin?
