PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi All
I am new to this and just looking for some advice. I had tried to claim back the payment care payments from Santander in relation to an old Abbey National Mortage we had from 1995 until 2002 after being advised by the bank manager to take this as help to get our mortgage approved. I found my mortgage settlement statement, which stated " we strongly advise you continue with your exitsing payment care", this confirming I had it. I then found my mortgage account number and bank statement which showed the mortgage payment and directly underneath the payment care payment which was detailed as Norwich Union as this was the underwriter of the payment care policy. All this information was sent to Santander. Today I have received a letter advising they are unable trace any payment care to their records despite all the evidence I submitted. They then advise if I have a bank statement to send this, which I have already done so.
Just really looking for advice and confirmation that abbey national payment care was underwritten by Noriwch Union, and what I should do next.0 -
Should I sign it my old name or include a copy of my marriage certificate and a letter explaining?0

Any statements you send would have to show proof of payment. The settlement statement does not provide this (or even any policy number) and is clearly not as useful as you thought.
In addition, your complaint reason is weak hearsay which again you can provide no evidence for.
Further, most mortgage PPI complaints are rejected even with full documentation of payment etc.
So you have rather an uphill battle, I'm afraid.0 -
Thanks Amersall for responding....
Which do you think I should do?
1. Sign in my old maiden name? or
2. Sign in my new name and include a copy of my marriage certificate?
I'm thinking you are favouring option 2, yes?0 -

Once the FO rules in your favour is that pretty much case closed or are the banks known to dispute the decision? I'm waiting to hear back from MBNA but they are taking their time.0

If either party is not satisfied with the adjudicators decision they can ask for it to be reviewed by an Ombudsman. The Ombudsman decision is the final stage of the complaints process.0 -
Hi
I need help.. I have found that I have been paying for PPI insurance on a store card.. I have submitted a complaint to Santander who took over the card.. This card was issued in 1996..? and it was done over a counter with a document completed by the sales assistance who just automatically included the PPI without any discussion.... I did not tick the box for PPI and I was not made aware of it or that I had a 30 day cooling off period!
Santander are refusing to accept the complaint, they advise that it was unregulated issue/sale and that a copy of the policy would have been sent to me and maintain that I had 30 days to cancel the policy.... .. This was not the case I have never had any details relating to the wording or actually knew I had a policy.. I was ill in 2003 and was off work for months but no claims was made as I was totally unaware I had PPI.. Santander have suggested I now retrospectively claims 12 years after the event. ... I did not receive any details of the PPI..which at that time was GE Finance...
Do I have any chance here..? They have given me a complaints procedure as the Finance and Leasing as I assume the FOS will not consider the complaint. has anyone been here and done this... thanks0 -
The insurer was probably Genworth, you can complain to them, they may uphold your complaint [ but they don't have to]
If you owed a balance on the card, the PPI woud have been itemised on every statement, so you won't get far saying you didn't know you had it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
