PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

  • I've been going through all my old paperwork and came across what I thought was a life insurance my mortgage supplier insisted I take out before they would agree to the mortgage. However, I now realise it was just set for the term of the mortgage which I paid in full, ten years early but I have carried on paying the monthly premium. At the time I took the mortgage, I had enough life insurance to cover the cost through my pension but the financial advisor said there would not be sufficient over to cover the cost of my funeral which was rising by leaps and bounds. Now, reading the policy it states 'This offer is made on the understanding that the policy will be used as collateral for a mortgage on your main residence.' I really didn't need to take out this insurance in the first place and certainly didn't need to continue paying it after July 2004 when the mortgage was fully paid. Can I claim for PPI anybody?

No, because it's not PPI. What you can do is ask them nicely if they wold refund any premiums since you finished paying the mortgage.

  • Sorry to be another dumb one!
Quite simply, I have never had a loan, have no mortgage, and have told the endless nuisance callers this, mainly as it is true but also to get rid of them! However, I have had a fair bit on one credit card across the years, during tough times, and I was told that I could have money owed back to me from that 'loan'. IS THIS TRUE?
I simply do not want to trawl through any registration of a claim unless I know there is some pot of gold (it cant be much!) at the end of the effort.

    IS IT WORTH IT?

    Thanks!
  • Firstly, my apologies if this has already been covered, but any help will be much appreciated.

Since taking out my loans and credit cards (some of which I distinctly remember having PPI on). I have since changed name (I have the Deed Polls still) and address a few times. From what I understand, having the Deed Poll should appease the bank. However since those I have had money troubles and most, if not all of my loans/cards defaulted and were passed on to debt collection agencies. Now these are all being paid back, but will that prevent me claiming PPI at all, or just increase the difficulty?

    Thanks!

You can still complain, but any monies written off as part of Debt Management Plans (etc), as well as the outstanding debt, will be offset against any redress awarded.

Many people continue their life assurance after they end the mortgage. So, nothing unusual in that.

The life assurance and the mortgage are not linked.

You cannot claim PPI as life assurance is not PPI. Also, there appears to be absolutely no wrong doing here. So, no reason to raise any complaint.

  • Hello,

I filled in my form and realised that it was address to my maiden name. That would of been fine but I have to write and sign in my name at the bottom of the form.

Should I sign it my old name or include a copy of my marriage certificate and a letter explaining?

Silly question, I know but I just don't want to miss out.
    Thank you....

Can anyone tell me if its possible that even after 6 years and ending an iva and bankruptcy that any money I were to reclaim would be taken from me by the trustees? Even though both iva and bankruptcy are over . I heard Martin L on telly once advise a bankrupt guy to wait 6 years then start all over again as any money he would be entitled to claim would be his. I have been told differently by a representative of the aib.
I know for sure that I have at least one good claim but I am reluctant to see it taken from us. I also know that as I was in a trust deed that I would be entitled to 50% but how hard would the organisation make it for me to retrieve it?
    so many questions.
  • I have considered PPI on some old student accounts and etc only thing is I can only find one account number ???

and I know the address of the bank from 1998

    Barclays
    18-22 Commercial Street,
    Sheffield,
    South Yorks
    S1 2A

I went into alot of debt and was unemployed etc so I need advice on if this one account number is enough and can it be linked to the credit card I had. I have thought that my current account will have payments onto them when I was paying back the debt, but was like 2000 etc doubt my bank will keep records that far back?

any help would be great have just though of going to a PPI claim co but Martin mentioned that they only really want the easy win cases??

The rules appear to be different in Scotalnd and the rest of the UK, so if you're in Scotland, you may be more successful than you would be in the rst of the uk [ there is no chance at all in the rest of the uk]
