PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi new to the site so please bear with me...so I called the Bank of Scotland to ask if there was any PPI on any of my loans, mortgages etc, and they said yes on an old mortgage I had, I took it out in 1992 and paid it off 2006. They advised me the whole complete the forms etc, did this and 8 weeks passed with a few phone calls and a letter to them asking why they were taking so long they called me to ask a few questions, 10 weeks into the claim, then today I called as another week went on and they advised me that they have made the decision that I am not entitled to anything as I knew I had the PPI, now I have divorced and moved since then and do not have the paperwork and I never knew I had PPI hence the call on the 16th Sept, so now contacting the FO who say that there is a slight chance but they have not won many claims against the bank. How do I contest this or can I? The bank say that I signed paperwork and then another piece of paper to advise me of the PPI but never made a claim and honestly had no recollection of having PPI....any help here and to make it worse at the time of having the mortgage my mortgage rate was 15.5% which was Hugh!!! Thanks for listening :T0

You can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman, but your chances of it being upheld are slim and the referral is likely to take in excess of eighteen months.my mortgage rate was 15.5% which was Hugh!!!0 -
Thanks for the reply....I will see what the FO say but it's so annoying knowing you have a PPI but knew nothing about it and then being told you agreed to it I remember them saying that I would not get the mortgage if I did not sign but hey the bank have the power....is that my final line of help?0

It's a myth fostered by Claims Companies that banks routinely added PPI without the knowledge or permission of their customers. It's impossible to prove and far more likely that you've forgotten or never checked the paperwork you signed.0 -
Wasn't so much bitter as so much dissatisfied, lacking confidence in the process. A rather bitter comment to make perhaps?! Anyway think you've answered my question so suppose I should thank you for your time.. Thank you0

Hi there..i posted on here a while ago for a bit of advice..all claims are in so heres hopeing..i think im in a win win situation as my inssurance was miss sold .as if it was not it would have payed out..as it did not pay out..it must have been miss sold...anyway that was after i was told i did not have inssurance..and my old bank manager found my loan agreement which said i did have inssurance on them ..anyway i phoned the [ fob]and they said as i asked could i also claim compensation for loosing my buisness due to the insurance not paying out all them years ago..and saying i did not have it..and me telling them i did ...they said if my claim is upheld ..its up to me to take things further if they dont offer compensation on top of re claiming the ppi...for the loss ..any body else had any problems like this or do anything like what i intend to do..as my thoughts are ..i should never have lost out all them years ago..0

I don't remember being born but I have it on reliable authority that birth was forced on me:rotfl:0 -
Is someone able to help me with this? I'm so frustrated. Weeks ago, I wrote to Citibank (who took over my old mortgage provider - Future Mortgages). They wrote to me, saying they could not find my details, despite me giving them an account number used by my own bank to pay them by direct debit. I replied, sending copies of my bank statements, showing the first and last payments to them (over 2 ) years. I have since had a second letter, almost identical to the first, saying they cannot find my account from the details I have given.
1. Isn't it the provider's responsibility to find my details, if I've given them everything possible?
2. Could they be doing this to extend the process, so I don't qualify?
3. What should I do now.
(PS: They don't deal by phone; all I get is a recorded message, giving me a PO Box no. to write to.)0 -
depends on how old it is.
If it's not running any more, they may have destroyed records.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
but I can prove all the payments I made over those 2 years via bank statements. Surely that constitutes 'recording'?0
