PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

These are new claims. I have little detail. The lenders, rough time period, limits, balances at a certain date. Type of loan, credit etc. These are from a credit file. I don't possess any a/c no's or statements but suspect PPI was paid on some.
I had a bit more detail to go on with my previously settled claim using the ombudsman when I knew had paid PPI but still felt dissatisfied with the outcome in as much as I wonder how accurate the payment was and despite the subject access request unable to prove otherwise.0 -
If there are no records left, then you have a payout that is the average payout, and being bitter about the amount is not going to chnge the fact that there are no records, you [and you didn't keep your own records] are relying on a company to keep them for you.
You will have to send SARs to each company to see what's left, but as you've already found out, there may be nothing, and you may be wasting £10 a time. The choice is yours, but a claims company will expect you to do the work, provide the details etc, then they fill in the same form and send it off the same way.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
hi i put a claim in some time ago for ppi and got a letter for each loan i had saying as i hadnt told them anymore infomation what thay offered me was all i would get and the ombudsman would not get involved.
i got 300 on one and 700 on the other but i know i should have got more.
i did not think this as a good will gesture but to fob me off do you think i could claim the rest back ?
but im not sure from here what to do.0 -

Did you offer the info they asked for after the bank offered redress?.
What were the original PPI amounts on each, did you settle either account early or did they go to term.
If you have the additional info and can prove that you paid more PPI, write to the bank and ask them to look at these again and include the proof of PPI that you paid.0 -
Hi,
Finally had my SAR responses back.
One from Tesco and one from MBNA.
Strangely the MBNA paperwork mentions both Egg and Virgin accounts. The only mention I can see of PPI is on one of the first pages where it shows a '0' next to it. It's looks like application information so I guess that means I did not request it.
The Tesco paperwork doesn't show much. I's just copies of statements and the few complaint letters I sent in before the account was closed.
How do I check if there was PPI charges on any of these accounts?
Thanks

The Tesco one, is this a loan? if it was a loan you need the agreement to show PPI, if it was a CC then it should show as a separate payment on each monthly statement.
With both of these, I would contact them and ask regarding the PPI, it is possible more Sar info is following, ask if there is.0 -
All credit cards.
Cant see or recall any monthly extras but just wanted to do the SAR to make sure the payment wasn't hidden somewhere.0 -

It's a myth fostered by claims companies that PPI is "hidden", especially for credit cards where it appears on each monthly statement where the account has a balance.0 -
Hi there,
I'm back after a long absence after having success with ppi.
Looking through some old paperwork my daughter almost threw away a piece of paperwork for ppi on car finance from a few years ago. We filled in the questionnaire and sent if off. She got a reply from Bank of Scotland who now deal with this. They asked for more information so she sent back a copy of the paperwork plus addresses for that time as she had moved several times. She had more letters asking for the same information. She wrote back with a list of full addresses she had for the period of the car finance. They then wrote back asking her to go into a branch and take Id to verify who she was. She did this.. Now they have written to her saying they are closing the case as they don't have enough information and said go to the Ombudsman. I think they are giving her the run around so I advised her to write a strongly worded letter to say she has sent them everything they have asked for including a copy of the actual ppi paperwork and to look at this again. Is this the best thing to do and does anyone have any advice to add.0
