The thing I don't understand is that I have already paid tax on the money I paid into the PPI. Now I am retired and don't pay tax. So I am paying tax twice on the refund!
It's only the interest which is taxable-not your PPI refund, but if you aren't a taxpayer, even this will be refunded to you by the Taxman.

Had a few PPI claims gone through (5 in total). 3 paid out straight away.

Barclaycard refused and so I went to FOS and they agreed to pay.

Egg refused so i've gone to FOS as well.

Im just curious about FOS turnaround times. Im not banking (pardon the pun) on a Christmas payout but does anyone know how the FOS prioritise their appeals.

Dont get my wrong, appreciate that they are inundated and im in no rush but the Barclaycard appeal was sent after the Egg one and the Barclaycard one has been resolved.

The Egg FOS appeal was sent about October last year.

    ta in advance!
  • The FOS queue is around eighteen months. There is no way to gauge exactly how long they might take with yours, or even if FOS will find in your favour.
  • Hi
I have received a letter today from Tesco bank containing a PPI questionnaire for me to complete. To be honest, I don't even remember having a credit card with them it was that long ago! How do I answer the questions such as "please provide your recollections as to what information you were given regarding your right to cancel" when I don't even remember if I applied online for the card or by post?

    any advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks

If you can't remember having the card how can you remember that you were missold the PPI ?

You don't have to return the form but if you do, you will need to state the reasons why you feel you were missold it.

If you applied online or by post the onus was on you to see if the PPI exclusions applied to you.Depression isn't covered by PPI.
You might as well complain though.

  • Hello all,
I would never venture to use one of these companies usually and did go direct, via Ombudsman on a settled claim previously.
Whilst the Ombudsman was helpful I was never really satisfied with the outcome of the claim as records only went back so far and access via a subject access request didn't reveal to me anything further, just reams & reams of paper..
I similarly have scant detail for several further potential claims and my thinking was to use a claims handler to act for all. All of these claims are pre 2005.
Have been reading this site with interest as to what information you should be armed with before contacting one of these companies. Does anyone have any further info or advice, particularly what more reputable agents are out there (Presuming any exist at all!?)
    Thanks...

you can't complain more than once about any complaint.
As you've already complained, that's it.
If there are no records left, there are no records, and a cliams company cannot magically will records into existence from the ether.

Claims companies like to give the impression they ahve specialised knowliedge or more clout. In fact, they have neither.
