No sorry my way with word is rubbish. We have had the payout just received the cheque. I just thought the remaining balance on my dmp should go down a bit because there is no longer any ppi on the loan.

    Yes it should.

  • Hi
can anybody point me in the right direction . I have had many loans , credit cards over the past 20 year and got myself in a pickle . I am pleased to say I am now loan/credit card free but I threw all paperwork out.... fresh start and all that . Where can I get a copy of all my various loans, cards etc as I need this information to start my ppi claims if I have any . Thanks
  • HSBC took 2% off my PPI Claim saying that the Government is now taking tax for any successful claim that is paid after October 8th 2013. I haven't read anything about this. Is this true for every claim?

  • Hello, just wondered if anyone could offer me some advice before I give up on my ppi claim. It's been ongoing since 2005! It's over £4k so I'm so reluctant to give up but not sure where else I can go with it. I took out a loan in 2004, which I've since discovered were not regulated until 2005. I repaid the loan 8 months later and was made to pay back the ppi, which in all honesty I did not know had been added (my error for not reading small print on the contract) I complained in writing to the company but got nowhere, when ppi mis selling came to light I contacted the company again, and they were going to look at paying some of the money back, my husband wanted to take it to the ombudsmen to claim all the money back, it was with he ombudsmen for over 5 years, initially they said we should have the money back, then he loans company disputed it and the ombudsmen changed their minds and went in their favour..... A year later we were contacted by a finance company saying they could claim our money back for us, so we went with it , another 2 years and it went back to the ombudsmen! Again the ombudsmen have said that as it was 2004 and they weren't regulated we can not claim back the money. They suggested I try and go back to the company and see if they are still prepared to offer some of the money back, but after some reseat it seems they stopped trading in 2008. I can't afford to take legal action and wondered if there was anything else I could do? Would be grateful for any advice. Thank you.

There's nothing left but to complain to the insurer, but be aware that that will probably result in nothing too, because they didn't sell it to you.
Find out who the insurer was, and complain to them.

  • Thank you for replying, will give it a go :)
  • The thing I don't understand is that I have already paid tax on the money I paid into the PPI. Now I am retired and don't pay tax. So I am paying tax twice on the refund!
