I used a claims company to start my claim but they were unsuccessful as Barclaycard said my claim had no grounds as I had ticked a box to say I wanted PPI . A few months late I decided to contact Barclaycard and the FOS to reinvestigate my claim . In June this years I finally got my refund but now the claims company want their 25 % , where do I stand?0 -
further to my post I have put additional info is this still correct I have to pay0

I had a telephone conversation with them when Bcard refused my claim and they agreed with Bcard so they agreed my calim had ended , it was only when I used this site that I went to FOS ,does this mean I have to pay as they did nothing !
As far as I understand unless you cancelled the contract in writing and you have proof that they received this and agreed to end it you will have to pay.0 -

I have to say I was offended by this. Isn't the point of making the claims, to get money back that you should never of paid out in the first place? Is that not everyones motive?
As it happens, the "nice" man in fact told me I didn't have PPI in an effort to prevent me putting in a claim. I asked him to put it in for me anyway, and I have just got a letter back telling me I am being refunded £392.05!!
Clearly my memory is fine, thank you very much!!

Had a mortgage years ago 1982 with Provincial BS and an Insurance guarantee with Royal Insurance was added as part of the mortgage process It was mis-sold as I was told I had to have this insurance in case I was sick and therefore no agreement no mortgage. ( I had been working for 13 years as a teacher ) Five years later I re-mortgaged with Lloyds with an Endowment Mortgage supported by Standard Life. Provincial was taken over by Abbey and then Santander. Is my claim with Santander or LLoyds or both Many thanks for any help0

Nothing wrong with that. At 1982, it is pre regulation and probably pre PPI as that was typically started later in 80s. It may well have been life assurance they insisted on as that was a typical requirement in the 80s. Also, a lender is allowed to insist on insurance as a condition of borrowing. Is my claim with Santander or LLoyds or both Many thanks for any help
Do you mean claim or complain? If you dont have the policy any more, you cannot claim on it. However, if you mean complain then what is your reason as there doesnt appear to be anything wrong in your case (ignoring the fact is a way before regulation)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi
I had a secured loan (on my home) (I know tut tut), which we took out around 2002 - 2005. We don't have paperwork anymore as we had paid off the loan. It was a hefty loan, we are talking about £40K and was with Freedom Finance. They have since been bought out in 2010 and they told me that because the claim was more than 6 years I can not get any information from them for it. I called them to get the old account number and details.
I have since requested a credit report from Experian to see if this can help with details. I am sure we have paid it off within the last 6 years.
This is a bit puzzling for me. Can anyone help with any advice? Or is this a dead end..
Many thanks
Angela

Hi, im sorry if this question may have already been asked, but i have decided after numerous telephone calls to finally take up the challenge, like many others to see if my hubby and i may be entitled to any refunds. However we took our first mortgage out around 1997 with Birmingham Midshires and have had many other mortgages, loans, and credit cards over the years since then. I cant remember all the companies or dates of these. Is there any way of finding out this information or do i have to just rely on doing a credit check on myself, that i understand only shows the last 6 years. I am keen to deal with this myself if i am able to do so without instructing one of the many companies that constantly ring but would welcome anyone's personal feelings and advice on the matter0

Forget using a claims company. They need you to supply the details.
Your credit report will show borrowing over the last 6 years that was registered to that credit agency. Going back further requires your memory.
You can probably forget the mortgage. Most mortgage insurance complaints are rejected and if you used a broker, they only became regulated in January 2005 (so only post Jan 05 sales are considered - you would know if you had anything since then).
Companies also destroy data over time. The regulator recommends 6 years. Whilst not all companies follow that, it does get harder the further back in time you go.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). thankyou for your reply,Where should i start this process then, other than my memory(which is not too good these days!!) Should i do a credit search on just myself or on both myself and hubby as mortgages have been in both names, although credit cards and loans haven't.0
