    Howdy,

I've had luck reclaiming missold PPI from both a Barclays Secure Loan and a Northern Rock personal loan.

I'm now going to attempt to go after a much older adversary!

Way back in around 1996-97, I was coaxed into taking out a Kwik Fit store card WITH PPI, which I was definitely mis-sold as I was a full time student at the time with a part-time job! I have a few questions regarding this:
    1) Is it too far back to attempt a reclaim?
    2) I have no remaining records of this account - I believe it is GE Capital Bank, so how would I go about getting hold of these?
    3) I have since moved (was living with parents at the time) - How do I prove who I am?

    Thanks in advance,
    Gingamonkey

You need account numbers. Your only option is to send a SAR and £10 to Kwik fit and see if your acounts still remain.
    After 17 years, it's unlikely.
Also, they won't have been regulated, so you would have to make your complaint to Kwik fit, get rejected, then complain to the underwiter, who doesn't need to accept responsibility for the sale.

Santander do GE, as Kwik fit sold you the card and PPI these are who you should put the complaint into, to be honest, without any info I doubt they would find anything for this card, you could do a Sar request for £10 and see if it throws anything up but it is up to you to decide this.

Just contact Kwik fit and Santander and see if they can find you, just give as much info as you can regarding this card your DOB address etc, you never know you may just get lucky.

HI tried to reclaim mortage ppi we where told we had to get with them or they will not allow us to have our mortage basically (this was 11 years ago and only just found out that this was incorrect) . Filled out the ppi form here with a covering letter and posted recorded delivery. Today i had a letter saying no ppi form was included with my correspondance, does santander have to have its own form ? Many thanks

It is correct if it was a condition of the mortgage or of the advice.
No, the ombudsman form should suffice.

    Hi,

I have been paying PPI since march 2001 till july 2013 which i didnt even know i was paying.

I thought is was my building insurance..how wrong was i.

Logged a complaint on the 16/6/13 via phone call to Santander.

Recived a call from Santander on the 16/7/13 took some information from me to understand the issue.

Got a letter on the 18/7/13 with an offer of £2320.18

Is it wise to take what they have offered or not.

Well today when I got home form work I had a letter from Barclays Bank stating that I may have been missold PPI on a loan I took out in 2006. I have not asked them before about this they just wrote to me out of the blue.

To be honest I never even knew I had PPi on the loan and it was a large loan I took out...it was 30k! eek

Anyway it said in the letter I could complete the questions or I could ring them to speak to them which would save time.

Therefore I rang them and spoke to a nice lady at Barclays who asked me a few question about the PPI. I was honest and I said that A) I did not realise the PPI was optional...which is true and B) I did not even know I had PPI on the loan which was also true but I said someone at Barclays must have mentioned it to me (I think) but I did not realise it was optional.

Basically my question is did I say the right thing???

I am hoping they come back saying I am owed money as on a loan of 30k it could be quite a good amount!!

    Many thanks

Without knowing what the PPI amount was initially I don't know if this is correct, if you know that you paid more than this and have proof, then get back to them, they usually redress per FOS rule, the PPI back that you paid and the 8%.
