Hi there, I am looking into reclaiming PPI for various loans and credit cards from the last 10 years. I have no idea who some of the loans and cards were with and they are not on my Experian credit report, maybe due to their age, is there any other way to find a record of these?

    Thanks!

If you have no records and they dont show up on your credit reference and you cant remember then its game over.

You are the only one who knows your credit history. No firm will be able to able to help either.
You are also looking at sending SARs to each company and a £10 cheque to discover any paperwork remaining because your accounts are closed.

Think this has already been upheld dunstonh, they are taking the monthly premium policy going forward.
they have taken this into account in calculation of my offer. In their offer they are basically still charging me for the monthly premium policy.

The claims companies do take on easy wins, so your friends probably had a very large loan with single premium over a period of time that the insurance wouldn't cover. Or a pre-existing illness.
    Ask them.
And, as said above, ask them how much the claims company took off them.

    Hi taff

My friend did have a large loan and he also had a pre-existing illness, from which he has now fully recovered. The claims company took £1800 off him. He came to my home a few days ago with his brand new White Jeep. You were sooooo right taff. Thank you for your comments oh very wise one :)

What reasons did they give for you needing a stand alone policy?.
If you did not need insurance, you would have to show that you could have repaid the debt in any eventuality, did you have a good sick package from work ?, life insurance or other insurance, if you were a student/worker working less than 16 hours a week, had savings or a previous illness that would have made it impossible for you to claim, if you did, you need to get back in touch with them, if you did not have other means to repay this debt then they are correct in saying you need some form of insurance and have taken this into account.

I can't remember what reasons they gave at the time but I think, from what you say, that I will have to accept their current offer. My circumstances were fairly stable during the period (full time employed etc) and I didn't have anything that would have meant I could not claim. I don't think there is any way I can argue that I did not need insurance.

Thanks very much for the help.

You may not have needed this insurance though, it is not a question of if you could claim, did you have a good sick package from work and life insurance?, the sickness part of the PPI only covers for 12 months, life insurance is a given, these are 2 areas that you were already covered for.
What are you covered for now and have you the new insurance documents?.

Has the loan been reset and the total PPI original amount been taken off the balance?.

Send a SAR and £10 to them each - see the template on the front page.

There may be no info left.
