You should use this as a reason for the mis sell, why would you have a product in place and then not use it, also, they may not have covered for stress either.
Well done with Barclays and fingers crossed for the others, the Welcome loan would have been Single Premium, this was in fact a loan on the loan that you repaid to term end with interest, hopefully this will have a positive result for you.

Yes all the loans were def single premium. I'm currently looking into the stress on all policies, and hoping my time off with stress is my trump card of unknown PPI's. Thanks for advice its proved useful. Had an uphold off M&S £854 :-) . Just waiting on few others expected any day now and sent Halifax Credit Cards and Barclaycard ( as partner self employed with this one ) off to FOS.

I doubt it would have paid out for stress, because that's a psychological complaint.
I really can't see how it's battle unless you make it one. All it is is a load of letters flying or snails-pacing to and fro, where sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, whether you can prove or not that it was missold.

I think due to missold reasons on most my accounts is due to not knowing I had ppi it appears a lot more difficult to prove. Personally as I have so many account complaints going on all at once, involving many hours of letters and calls and like you say paperwork and letters flying back and forth trying to read up on it all as much as possible to arm myself with as many facts as possible, only to get knocked back in some cases when you know you haven't consented can be tiresome and frustrating. It's starting to pay off with bits off redress coming in and don't want to make it sound like a slog and put people off I'm prob just feeling a little tired today with it that's all. Plus initially I got so excited at the prospect of maybe getting some financial freedom sooner rather than later and then soon as rejection letters come through the pessimist in me says its not gonna happen. Anyway I know its worth doing and thanks for your feedback

  • Hi ok can someone just take a look at my reason for my complaint?

    a) I didn't need the policy as my partners wages were being paid into my bank account (even though not a joint account) which would of covered/has covered my payments should I of been off work with an illness, made redundant, or popped my clogs!

    b) Had the PPI been discussed with me in the first place explaining what PPI was and that it would be added to the existing loan amount I would of declined the policy due to this. At the end of the day PPI was never mentioned therefore nothing was explained.

I can't find any proof of my other policies mentioned before or even remember who they were with, so I can forget about that.

    Hi all,
I'm thinking of reclaiming ppi, but my loan was taken out in 1997 or1998, I can't remember exactly which year, and as it was around 15/16 years ago is this too long ago? I have no paperwork at all, only my old bank account details, I am no longer with the bank that gave me the loan, and after approx 3 years into paying it I became ill and had to leave work, when I rang and told them, they said the PPI didn't cover me as I gave up work, it was then passed onto a debt collection company. I finally
Paid up in full in approx 2007/8.
Do you think its worth a try?
    Thanks

Banks typically keep records for around six years.

This makes it even more likely that the Bank will have no records either.

It's your choice, but bear in mind that (even if they were to uphold any complaint you made) any monies written off as part of your default would likely be clawed back from your redress.

I've made a claim on four loans, the first dating back to when I finished uni' in 2002. The bank have offered me a settlement but on the first two loans (pre ombudsman) when I was living with my olds, they've offered me part of what I paid. Their argument is that I would have needed some sort of loan protection so they'll pay me the difference between what I could have paid and what I actually paid. This is on the basis of the evidence provided at the time. At the time, the loans were for a small amount and my parents could (unofficially) have bailed me out should I have become redundant etc. Also, great sick package (I'm a Nurse.)

Also, on my latter loans, they say they've "defended" the decision which I interpret to mean they don't think they were at fault... but they're still paying me!

Should I contact the bank and push for a refund on everything, or be grateful for what I'm getting?

Bankrupts cannot gain anything personally from any PPI complaints. If you won redress, this would be regarded as a pre-bankruptcy asset and so would have to be surrendered to the Official Receiver for redistribution to your former creditors.
    Sorry.

There is also no point employing a Claims Management Company, since you'd still have to pay their fees even though your redress went to the OR.
