phone them up and ask if you were paying it. If you were, make a complaint. You need the account number and a complaint reason [be wary of just saying you were made to have it or you didn't know, they are hearsay complaints and you can't prove them]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hi apologies if I've posted on an incorrect thread but new to this, finally getting around to looking into reclaiming ppi and wanted to ask if it can be done on a mortgage? I was sold mortgage protection as a first time buyer 8+ years ago, not really knowing what it was but had to cancel it a year ago because it was just so expensive, the worst is that 9 months later was made redundant and since found out it would have helped me after a period for approx 6 months. Can I explore a claim on this?
Also another related question, approx 10 years ago I had a hp loan for my first car and again am confident I was informed I had to take up protection can I still claim?
Thanks in advance0 -
Hello
I have recently put a claim in to Lloyds TSB for PPI and CPI on my mum and dad's credit card and loans, both my mum and dad have passed away.
After sending copies of the death certificates Lloyds asked for proof of the executor. My parents did not leave a will, they did not own any properties and I dealt with the sharing of any possessions between my brother and sister. I have advised them that my parents did not leave a will.
Lloyds have now contacted me to say they want a copy of the grant of probate, I did not need to apply for a grant of probate when they passed away therefore I do not have this. Can anyone advise on what I can do next to progress this?
Thank you
we had joint loans with lloyds and welcome
now lloyds did mention i would need a letter of probate when i first complained but as we had divorced before he died and he had a new wife she would have to get the letter. but as i could prove we was married at the time of the loans and payed them off before his death the new wife had nothing to do with them lloyds sorted ev thing out and all compo came to me.
now welcome is a diff story lol
we had 4 loans with them all joint but 2 with me as the main and 2 with him as main they said they could pay out on mine but not on his as he was the main on them and unless i got a letter of probate i could shove off.
now after a quick google search about probate i came to the conclusion that a letter of probate is something that gives u permission to act on their behalf but i also got the impression that if the person owed any money u could after getting the letter of probate be responsable for that debt(i could be wrong)
all i can say is google probate and u should be able to get info about it and how u get it xx0 -
I submitted a Credit Card PPI claim to LLoyds on February 19th 2013, they have responded to me, 8 weeks later to advise that they told me over the phone in January 2009 that I had no complaint, and they are unable to open a new complaint. In 2009 no paperwork was filled out, it was just a phone call where I asked about PPI and they said it was not mis-sold, I was daft enough to believe them. This time I have filled out all the paperwork and given them the reasons I know the PPI was mis-sold, do they have a legal obligation to investigate this or can they just tell me the case was closed in 2009-and thats that?:(0

You may have to go to FOS with this.0 -
If they are treating your phone call from 2009 as a complaint, then they think they have already investigated. If you have no paperwork saying they've rejected your phone call, you haven't had a full and final repsonse.
It may be worth forwarding your complaint to the ombudsman, then it depends on whether they believe you were informed in 2009 that no missale took place.
It also depends on whether you can prove it was missold.
Phone the ombudsman up and ask them for their advice, but if they agree with Lloyds, your complaint will be over, and you may wait up to 18 months to be told the same thing at the end of it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Hi
I'm new to this and a bit highly strung when it comes to making complaints and dealing with customer service-type issues so would appreciate some advice!
I have read the article and particularly as things are getting financially strained for me I'm seriously considering making some phonecalls to find out if I had PPI on any of the products I've had in the past. It feels particularly daunting for me because I have had a lot of products - at least 4 personal loans, 4 car loans, 6 mortgages, 8 credit cards and a couple of store cards and probably some others I've forgotten about. I do believe I still have all my paperwork somewhere but I've moved home so many times that digging through it all will be a nightmare.
My plan is to call the companies and ask if I ever had PPI. I know that I categorically said I did not want PPI on every such product I've had since about 2003, but before that if I ever took PPI it would definitely have been because I was led to believe that I had no choice.
One of my concerns is that I still have some of the credit cards as well as a couple of mortgages, and I'm wondering if this complicates things?0 -
I wouldn't bother with the mortgages unless you either had a single premium attached to the mortgage as a one off payment, or you were single with no dependants and paying life insurance.
To make a complaint, you need the account numbers and a reason that it was missold.
If you don't know the account numbers, you need to find out what they were, either phone and ask, but due to the age they may say they don't have records. If they do say this, you need ot send a SAR and £10 to each company you hgad credit with to discover if they do have any information left.
Again, due to the age, they may have destroyed records, so it's your choice to spend £10 on each one or not.
Don't be put off by this because one successful complaint can more than make up for it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
