PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

My 74 year old father yesterday received a letter from Barclays confirming they are prepared to refund £12000 mis sold PPI. This unsecured loan defaulted in 2010 and was passed to a debt recovery agency which my father has been paying regularly since then. Barclays are saying that £10000 will go towards the outstanding balance and they will send him a cheque for the remaining £2000. Can someone kindly advise me if Barclays can do this since the debt is no longer with them or is my dad entitled to the full amount to be sent to him? If so, what should be my next step to help him? Thank you0

Barclays are entitled to do this, you don't have to do anything to help him.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi1

Hi All
Just wanted to know if anyone has had any dealings with Lloyds in the same instance. My credit card complaint has been upheld by the Fos - Very quick only submitted this in August. Lloyds had until 19th Feb to answer which they haven't. Does anyone know how long this normally takes to get a reply and then get a payout.
Many Thanks0 -
I was wondering whether anyone can help me. My brother took a loan out in 2008 with Natwest Bank for approx £3,000, after a couple of years he took out another loan, with Natwest again, to pay off his first £3,000 loan. However, his second loan he took out he never paid back. To date, it still remains unpaid although the bank have stopped chasing and threatening bailiffs now!
He received a letter from Natwest recently informing him that when he took out the loan he was actually paying PPI (he didn’t realise this and, as he’s self-employed, didn’t think he would benefit from it). The letter doesn’t say he was missold PPI, but informs him that he took it out and warning him of his time limit to complain if he feels he’s been missold.
Can he claim back PPI even though his second loan was never actually paid off? If he does complain will this remind the bank that he never actually paid off the loan and therefore they will chase for the money again?
Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks0 -
They haven't forgotten he owes them money, it's probably a different department that is unaware of his status anyway, or he's going to get the letter anyway because he was in a batch of potential missales identified by Natwest
If he does complain about the PPI it will be used firstly against any debt he has.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi1 -
In 2004 I applied for a Sky credit card on the internet. They rang to advise me that I was successful but in order to be able to get the card I had to agree to take out PPI. I no longer have the card nor do I have the details from my account. I am aware that Sky credit card no longer exists. Does this mean I am unable to make a claim or can anyone help as to what or where I could go to make a claim please.0

i'd ombubsman it..................barclaycard just string you along like they did me for over 8 months. had to ring them everytime a letter was late,to be told it had been sent, then when i received the letters they were always dated the time i should have received them............(they were never sent out in the first place.)
only taken 6 months for fos to get further than i ever got with barclaycard myself. i know it takes longer with fos, but better to be in the queue now, than waste another 6 months like i did.0 -
I was contacted in 2011 by CMC about reclaiming PPI, the claim against Barclaycard was sent to FO as Barclaycard denied mis selling.
I decided to ring FO yesterday as 2 yrs had passed & nothing. FO said that they believed I had been mis sold & had notified CMC in Nov 2012, I rang them, & was told Barclaycard now has the chance to find more evidence to show it wasnt mis sold, where would they get this if all original paperwork was assessed by FO, surely they wont have any further evidence to back the claim up, if so why wasnt this used initially.
Im confused.0
