PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

hi , originally was contacted by cold call from a no win no fee company who took the case on on our behalf, thought we may have a case, the original complaint was for mis-selling but they have closed the case and I was wondering if it would be worth trying the ombudsman as no advice was offered either way !
We all get contacted by scam/spam claims companies telling us we have been mis-sold. They are worse than the banks for their lies.
It appears you have no grounds for complaint. You cant just claim the money back. There has to be some failing. The issue is not about the product but about the way it was sold to you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi All
Any advice appreciated. I have just started on the PPI trail. As you tell from my log in, I had lots of credit cards and loans in the past.
I took storecards with House of Fraser and Laura Ashley in the late 90's. Cancelled repayment protection in 2004 when I started to wise up to my finances. I am confident in both cases that I took the repayment protection as I thought a condition of the card. The boxes on the applications are ticked but the cards were sold by sales assistants...just complete name and address and sign and I'll do the rest!.
Both claims have been rejected by Santander. They say they have no record of the sales process, so can't possibly know what occurred when I completed application.
Both cards were with GE Capital at the time of application who I know have been fined, but is this worth pursuing? Shall I put it down to my financial stupidity and move on? Thanks in advance.0 -
can somebody tell me if i send for my t&c will it state on there if ppi was paid for a couple of credit cards . also i know that i paid ppi for a £12000 Lombard direct loan i took out online in 2005 (was refused the loan without ppi earlier) i was working for the ambulance service and get full sikness pay so i didn't need it .0

Which seems logical. Back in those days the banks did require life assurance to take out a mortgage. That was allowed and is indeed still allowed.
Ignoring the fact it is not PPI, why do you think you can claim the premiums back? You havnet given any wrong doing you wish to complain about in your post.
Thanks for correcting me, I had a feeling this would be the case, although the definitions confused me, borrowing money and having to pay it back in mortgage payments sounded similar to a loan, my bad.
So the life assurance/Insurance was to Protect the Payments! I see?!
The 'perceived' wrong doing was their insistance that we had to have it, as in the real PPI claims.
Sorry to have bothered anyone with my misunderstanding lol

I had a load with Alliance & Leicester who no longer exist - can I still claim back PPI on this? If so where do I send my form etc ...

Hi,
I have been told by my mortgage company -Scottish Widows I did not have payment protection when I set up my account in 2006. I have also spoken to the mortgage broker company (Mortgage Pro also known then as Homebank) they advised they did not exist with the FSA until 2008. The broker was approved and I have a copy of the breakdown of their charges so I can prove I paid them £2200 as a ppi charge. The Fsa advised could be tricky and they need to know who the insurers were. I have not a clue . Any suggestions?
I sent the broker away the first time to find deals that did not include ppi as I did not need it but was told on the second time it was the only option (it was the cheapest he found). So I am sure I am eligable.
I really appreciate any help0 -

If you sought advice, then it is the adviser is that is liable for the advice they give. That is who you complain to.
Your complaint is actually very weak. It is a allegation that you are unlikely to be able to prove and firms tend to have nothing to support such allegations either. Very few complaints succeed on that reason alone.
I'm not sure why the FSA offered any opinion. They do not get involved in consumer complaints and would not offer opinion. The insurer themselves have no liability either. So, it matters not who they are.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I wrote to Barclaycard quite a while ago asking them to investigate the accounts I have with them.
I had a Sky credit card which was actually owned by Barclaycard and I have Barclaycard at the moment (which I dont use).
The sky card was paid off a couple of years ago.
After writing to them they replied asking me to fill in a questionnaire, which I did. I then had a letter off them saying they hadnt received the questionnaire so I rang them. Their letter must have crossed in the post with my completed questionnaire as the person I spoke to said the questionnaire had been received. I asked the person on the phone if he could see if I had PPI on the account - he said I had 2 accounts and that one did have PPI on it. I got all excited as I have alreday had a successful claim with HSBC and as my circumstances were the same at the time of taking both out. So I am thinking quids in!
No - I came home from work to a letter from barclaycard today saying they can find no policies in my name????
I know there is nothing anyone can do on here and I will just have to ring in the morning, just coming on to vent....I stupidly had it all spent in my head. Has anyone else had this from Barclaycard??0 -
PPI - I was not actually mis-sold it, it was just added to my credit card statements without me knowing it. This was about 10-15 years ago, but luckily enough I phoned RBS up and asked what it was about and they told me. But, not only did I have to tell them on the phone that I did not need it (my company covered me up to 6 months full pay and six months half pay) I also had to send them a letter confirming that I did not want it (even though I had not agreed, known about or requested it). I wonder how many other people has this has happened to in that timescale that have not still realised that it was PPI on their statements and not questioned it?0

Hi
I have have had a unusual situation where I have received a cheque for £2,399.89 from a company LIFESTYLE MONEY based in Swansea which is a trading name for All Debt Solutions. This is good except that I have not approached any one to claim any PPI for me as I am currently doing this my self with the templates from Money Saving Expert.com. I have contacted the company to be told I should just cash the cheque. I was then told that they would get some one to contact me regarding the payment, which they have failed to do. I feel that they have taken this on them selves and now taken hundreds of pounds for doing so which should be mine. I have had a number of companies contacting me stating I am owed money from a loan,so think this is how they also knew. Can you help or give advice of how I should proceed..I have banked the cheque and placed it away in a account in order to provide a foot print through my bank .
