Yep, my job offered and still offers full pay if I am unable to work due to sickness, industrial injury, maternity leave, etc.

As money has says it certainly helps your claim, they may ask you to prove it, but they (the bank) should ask these questions before selling people ppi, if you go on the home page of this site & look for the reclaim ppi guide it will be a great help to you

  • Hi,

I have recently made a claim using the letters on this website and have recieved a letter confirming that i am due compensation. However, when I look at the figures there is a deduction from the amount I have paid them which reduces the compensation considerably.

    In the letter it states

"This is a previous rebate(s) paid to your loan as a result of your PPi being cancelled or would have been included as part of the settlement figure(s) on early closure".

Can anyone explain what it means? An example is

    Total PPi Premiumus paid £11,214
    interest is £770
    plus 8% £1138.57
Which is a total of £13,123
Less any previous rebate paid and referes to the statment above £9800
So the actual amount theya re offering is around £3000.

If I have been missold surely I should recieve the full payments back and not have a deduction. I have increased the loan with themin previous years and no longer have it.

Please help as I dont whether to accept the £3000 offer write back to them.

    thanks

It means that because you settled the loan earlier than the original schedule you have already received a rebate on the PPI you would otherwise have paid.

The Bank are offering you full redress in line with FSA guidelines.
Accept the offer and well done on your success.

Pensions do not have PPI on them. A pension is not capable of having PPI on it.
in 2005 i finished working due to ill health i infromed barkclays pensions and was told if i found it hard to pay to call back well last month i contacted then and was told that i had a peyment waiver on it but as my illness was pre taking out the pension i'm not covered

Waiver of premium is not PPI. Waiver is underwritten at point of sale. Not point of claim. So, you disclosed your medical history to them when taking the pension out. They would either accept you at that point or impose special terms. If they impose special terms, they contact you to ask if you agree to them or not. You must have done for it to have commenced. It is normal for pre-existing conditions to be eliminated.

Lloyds just featured on Watchdog for turning down legit claims. 98% of those sent to Financial Services Ombudsman are awarded against the bank. That cheered me up no end
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

Oh why am I not surprised by that, none of them are to be trusted in my opinion, & I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that!!!!
  • Barclays upheld our claim. We signed and returned our acceptance letter, this was logged on Barclays system on 31st July.
Exactly 3 months later we are still waiting for our money.
What can we do? E-mails, phone calls, all get the same sort of reply ie " I,ll chase it, I,ll flag it up I,ll speak to my supervisor.
I know their busy but 3 months to pay out is taking the p*ss.
Anyone any ideas how to speed things up?
